IMO you can get basically the same performance for A LOT cheaper. Im kind of new to this myself but Ill do my best to help out. Your monitor is gigantic! I have a 22" and it is perfect for games, and a third of the price. Most games that I know of wouldnt even be able to run at a resolution that big. I would suggest downgrading the monitor.

The CPU is alright I guess, but why not go for the E8500? It is basically the same performance but for more money.

The case you have is also a lot of money, mine cost me 85$ and suits me fine. :) Just make sure the case has 120mm fans (themore the better) and its big enough to fit all your parts comfortably with enough space tocapacitate good airflow.

Ram is good, I got 4GB OCZ 800mhz for around 100 however. Not sure if the extra mhz is worth that 90$

The more expereinced builders around here will be able to help you out more with the Graphics card/s and the Power consumption. If you have the money I would consider an SLI/ Crossfire system. Maybe 2x 4870/4850. Then your mobo would most likely have to be changed.

PS: also try and get a 'modular' PSU. It will help with clutter in your PC and allow better airflow.

The NZXT Apollo is a great case. Its very sleek and the black paint looks amazing with the Blue LEDs that come with the case. The side fan is also blue LED, (there arent many pics of it). It has a lot of room for expansion and it cools very well.

Mine was 85$, its alienware-like i guess. NXZT Apollo Black. Visit:

NCIX.com/Tigerdirect.com(my personal fave, easy site nav)/newegg.com(US only)

Just read the reviews and etc, they usually have good info about the cases such as size, shipping/ return habits of the sites, and most importantly cooling issues. Cooling and space are definetly the most important things to look for in a case.

I have the exact same case as you and close to the same processor(Q6700). I have the Thermaltake V1 on my CPU. My system idleas at 38 normally, and my CPU is usually at 42 idling or under a light load. The hottest it has ever been was 56 under high COD4 and it was 37 degrees outside :/And usually it is about 49 undera large load (COD4, COH)

I recomend the V1, maybe some arctic silver 5 (I have yet to get AS5 myself).

you could easily get a used ds or dslite at a local video game store. One here sells reg DS used for around 45, and DSlite around 60.

Yeah, my 8800GTS can run COD4 on highest settings extremely well. I havent tried crysis before, I am curious to see what that would run like.

a couple confusing thigns you bought, ..... why a 8800GT 320mb card???? it's really not a good graphics card anymore considering what else is out there.

Same with the q6700 if i'm not mistaken that is quite a bit more money than the q6600, and not much less than the 45 nm quad cores, so that purchase is kind of baffling but all in all nice PC

whitey_rolls

1.) The graphics card was given to me for FREE from a friend as he upgraded his and had no need for this one.

2.) I honestly have no idea about CPUs, I just bought a quad because it sounded bigger than a duo. and 2.66 sounded nice :/ (I am new to computers)

what motherboard is it?frost_mourne13

No idea! I know its an ABIT , and it was 109$. :P

Nice rig. I would probably overclock that cpu to 3 GHz. I know the Q6600 overclocks really well and I know a lot of people that overclock that to 3 GHz. Also, graphics card will be fine till December. Maybe then you could get the 4870x2. bedram793

Honeslty, I have no real interest in overclocking atm. Maybe in the futurethough. And I have no interest in playing Crysis on its highest settings either, as ive played it at a friend and i didnt really like it too much :S

can anyone tell me what a good temperature is for a PC? Mine idles at 38C and sits at 46C under max load. My CPU has gotten as high as 56C. This seems too high and I was thinking that I may need some more cooling :/ Possibly a fan card that fits into a PCI slot or something.

srry bout bumping, im just bored an no one was really responding :S

[QUOTE="WDT-BlackKat"]Please don't bump posts, particularly when you've gotten responses and it's been less than a day since.opamando

Whats wrong with bumping it? It had been almost an hour, as long as people aren't bumping every 10 minutes, whats the big deal.

What are you a Forum Nazi?

To the OP: the PC looks pretty good, the GPU is starting to show it's age, but is still good enough.

yeah i wouldnt mind upgrading it soon as i said :P
