Slowing it down

Hey guys and girls,

As i approach my 3rd year on this great site i've recently decided that i will do no more reviews on tv.com and devote my time to trying to do so externally whether on another site or perhaps my own, we'll see.

I'm greatly appreciative for tv.com lighting my burning desire to criticise which had previously been extinguished.

:)

My 200th Review

As i approach my second year on tv.com, i am happy to announce that i have completed my 200th review yesterday.

I knew the moment i reached the 100 review mark last year that another 100 was on the horizon but would take a while due to the lack of time available and the lengthy process that writing them is, not to mention deciding on an episode or show to look at when there are so many.

I can't say with confidence that i will reach 300 in the near future but rest assured, however many of you read them, that there's still more to come.

Just a few random stats for you to chew on:

Number of reviews written: 200 (duh!)

Favorite review written: The Simpsons (not only for its general quality but i just remember being so proud to review a show that has been so prominent in my life for so long)

Least favorite review: my first few pages of reviews are as short as they are lacking in any real detail, it's not until a while later did i improve slightly.

Review with the most thumbs up: Beavis and Butt-head with 7

Review with the most thumbs down: The Family Guy episode "To Love and Die in Dixie" which also got 7 (i still stand by what i said)

My reviewing idol: No question, James Berardinelli. Like me, this movie critic offers an in-depth commentary into a film's quality but injects so much personality and humor into his writing that makes any of his reviews a joy to read. Also, tv.com user amazingwebhead also writes some very good reviews of tv episodes and shows that i often find myself agreeing with and if he's reading this; keep them coming buddy.

How i plan to improve them: stop doing that thing where i put hyphenated words too far apart and also review more people and tv shows.

Thanks for reading, you're all a 10/10 in my book :)

Happy new year and more :)

Hey guys and girls,

First of all, i know this is a few days late but i'd like to wish everyone a happy new year and new decade. Not only will it give us a chance for some cheap jokes e.g. (i drank some milk from last decade, is one i used today) but i think it will be a happy and prosperous decade if we all enter it with hope and optimism.

The miraculous return of the "edit" option for our reviews has seen me go back and improve many of mine which has been great and maybe the absence of careless spelling and phrasing mistakes can mean they will be taken more seriously.

The Golden Globe awards are on in a few weeks and i don't really have any confident predictions but it is pretty obvious that Christoph Waltz (the bad guy in Inglourious Bastards) will take home his zillionth award for his deserving performance. The far more interesting television categories will be the ones to watch and i think we'd all love the unappreciated Steve Carrell (The Office) and Michael Emmerson (Lost) to take home the gold.

That's all from me

Happy Holidays to all

You're probably sick of these sorts of blogs so i can understand if you read it with a sense of weariness.

Christmas couldn't have come at a better time, just as the economic situation is starting to pick up and the dawn of the awards season meaning i may have some stuff to do.

One of the things i'm thankful is Tv.com as it really is more than a site, i've had a great two years on it and have made some good friends and submitted some (occasionally) good info. :P

I hope you all have an awesome Christmas/Hanukkah/ Eid-al-Adha/Kwanzaa/Bodhi Day.

See you next year.

Shiny new emblem and Lost rewatch

As tv.com users rejoice in the long-awaited return of live chats, the users who took part woke up to find a very jazzy new emblem on their board which consists of an envelope with 2009 under it (as you can see, i'm too lazy to actually copy the emblem onto my blog).

There's not too much going on with me at the moment; i'm getting into the meat of my Lost rewatch with me almost getting through the mysterious 3rd season. I'm very much looking forward to reaching the succinct but explosive 4th, only 5 episodes to go :)

I've also got my eye on a new editorship but more on that at a later point...

Thanks for stopping by :)
