I'm playing through dragon age origins now, and I bought all the dlc except for Awakening. I also bought Dragon age 2 already, so I'm trying to decide if I should just move onto the sequel afterwards or if I should bother playing Awakening. Without any spoilers, does playing Awakening affect the second game in any way?

I actually like Onlive a lot, I only have a ps3 so it gives me a way to play Metro 2033 and Splinter Cell Conviction. And the whole concept of a service that can graphically improve over time is very interesting to me. I'm looking forward to the Witcher 2 coming out on it this summer hopefully.

Am I the only one that actually likes onlive? It works pretty well for me. And I only have a ps3 besides that, so its cool to get to play Metro 2033 and the Witcher.

Apparently onlive has the goty edition for $5, less than $4 if you're a playpack subscriber. I know most of you won't care, but their deals are becoming more and more competitive.

rhazzy

Pfff...You would be better of by saying the Aliens will invade earth Today at 20:00.

Onlive adresses to a non existent market...99% of the gamers world wide have no clue about what is Onlive...

Their deals ...what deals....they can give u free games...no one knows about them...no one cares about them...no one will ever use onlive...You talking about competitive deals???Huh u must be out of ur mind....No one would want to play games on Onlive rather than a PC or a console...even if every game that onlive offers would be free...

This was funny to read when I just bought Borderlands for Onlive ten minutes ago.

Let me see

1. No mods. Mods are a big part of pc gaming and with onlive you cant use mods

2. Game Prices. I'm sorry but when you can find me metro 2033 for 2,50 euros ( was on sale on gamersgate a few days ago) then probably i will consider onlive

3. Limited selection of games compared to any big DD service out there including Steam, gamersgate, D2D

4. Game prices are high and they havent got the amount of sales of steam and gamersgate. They dont even come close to the amount of sales of those 2

5. Why would i want to play onlive when with $120-130 i can get a decent 6850 and play everything on 1080p on my pc and save a huge load of money using steam and gamersgate sales.

6.With onlive you are stuck with well onlive. Using a semi decent Pc you can buy games from 10 more big DD stores

7. In their terms of service . What is a PlayPass?

A PlayPass grants you access to play a game for a specified period of time. Membership is required to get and use a PlayPass. Available PlayPass options:

Full

Provides unlimited access to the selected game throughout its supported lifetime on the OnLive service. We expect to keep all games supported for as long as people continue to play them, but at a minimum, all current games will be supported for 3 years after their release on the OnLive Service.

In other words there is a big possibility after 3 years you wont be able to play that games tou bought. Great stuff

I actually got Metro 2033 for free on Onlive. They decided to let playpack subscribers have any game of their choice for free, just for the hell of it. They also gave out Amnesia for free the day it came out.

[QUOTE="RACiEP"]I like actually owning my games, thank you very much. And... I believe someone posted this earlier, but what happens when OnLive discontinues the service? All of the games you paid for are now gone.RandomWinner

Well you only own your games for 3 years anyway (which in itself is a minus) but the fact that they are charging so little for a play pack of 80 games tells me that they aren't exactly falling apart. They could offer a lot less for quite a bit more.

They don't take away your games for no reason after 3 years, I think for some legal reason they just say it will be available for at least three years.

The cons of Onlive... The idea will not last and the company will go under

1. Latency, high bandwidth requirement,

2. No Mods

3. Game expiration time

4. No multiplayer

04dcarraher
It has mulitiplayer, mods are planned for the future, and there are no plans to make games expire at a certain date.

MP will suck, between the high bandwidth needed to transfer visuals and controls then having to send player positions and actions to other clients its going to bad news. So instead of have say 100 ping, with onlive MP you will have 300 ping Nice!, Also how in the world will mods work? because everything is server based, I doubt it will allow a user to use custom mods he or she finds or makes and be able to install them. Onlive is pointless and is a waste of money and time since normal gaming methods are better....

I'm getting games for cheaper than I would on other systems, and I'm having fun playing them. So I fail to see how it's a waste of money or time.

I like it a lot actually. I've playing the Witcher on my laptop that definitely couldn't run it otherwise, but it runs perfectly for me on max settings on Onlive. Plus, a lot of hate that people have for it just isn't true. You don't need to pay $100 dollars to get a console, you can just preorder a game for $50 and get a free console with that.

Also, they just added the Witcher to the playpack. This is great for me since its not on ps3 and my laptop definitely couldnt handle it. I've been wanting to play this for a while.
