you know, the guy who decides what his game is going to be about and stuff. i hope its not too hard a job. does anyone know what being a game designer consists of specifically? ive given it alot of thought, and making my ideas into video games seems like the best direction i could possibly go in life.Skeledragon

Let's clear a few things up right off the bat. Getting into the gaming industry is a hard enough task as it is, and to top that off it's a hard field to study in college. I currently go to college for Web design and I have to say I thought I would be able to get away with just designing; not the case whatsoever. Programming is a part of my every day experience in this major. You may want to get the idea out of your head that you are only going to do one thing.

In this field if you are going to be marketable you are going to need to be well versed in more than just "I know what to make the game about." In fact you won't ever get to make that decision unless you either become the best of the best or start your own company. And starting your own company in this field would be EXTEMELY hard as you would need to know the ins and outs of everything that has to do with anything in this field.

So is it easy? Hell no! Can you do it? Well, how bad do you want it? I can tell you right now if you are going to make it through college in a game design track you better start learning how to program. And if you think you can skip college as you don't need it then I doubt you will make it in the work force as you would be surprised what it actually takes to make a video game. I thought the Web design track wouldn't be too bad but it does take a lot of work. And I have had professors who have straight up said game design is probably tougher.

http://ca.gizmodo.com/5761383/apples-new-subscription-model-is-evil

This is an intersting read. Apparently Apple is changing 'their subscription model. Companies that offer subscritptions would now have to offer it through the Apple store for the same price or less and companies wouldn't be allowed to link to their site externally anymore. Now I know you are probably thinking why is that such a big deal? Well Apple takes 30% of every transaction and since companies would not be allowed to link anymore it would either mean they pull out all together or start raising prices on they're site just becuase they have to compensate for it on the App store.

What are your thoughts on this? I think it is an incredibly bad move and its going to be real interesting to see how this pans out.

If your going to respond just read the article first so you can fully understand what is going on. My summary doesn't hit every point and I may have left out other important parts.

Its good for earning scholarships. But when it comes to college they don't really care what your GPA is besides getting into the school. Once you get in they don't care what you took in high school as its not to their standards.

Obviously you don't watch the show or you would know they don't just decriminate against Mexican people. People need to lighten up and not be offeneded by every little thing. Oh my God he called me lazy!!!! I can't go on living...

only once, when i bought naruto: rise of a ninja. the cute store clerk chick kinda gave me a look like 'what the hell are you buying this for?' like she didnt expect someone as good looking as me to be into this anime-looking stuff. not gonna lie, i felt a tinge of embarassment as i walked away.

Wow, someone is sure full of themselves. And yeah I would be embarrassed that is like for ten year olds. No offense.

Glad to hear you made it out okay. I have been in quite a few in my lifetime too. And just like you I was never the driver. There are only a few people I trust at driving anymore. I rarely go anywhere without being the driver; I can't stand not being in control of the car.

A man in Michigan used his Wife's password to access Her Gmail account, and out She was having an affair. He now stands accused of felony computer misuse charges. This is ridiculous.

The maximum penalty for computer misuse is five years. Clearly this pathetic man should be chemically neutered. Its absurd in American society the way womyn are confined and forced into humiliating roles by a corrupt imperialist patriarchy. Men are allowed to abuse and intimidate, and even when they are punished, as in this case, it is never severe enough.

Third Wave!!

Palantas

Are these serious comments? You think this man should have to be put in jail for more than 5 years?

Sometimes the Internet scares me with what they consider problems. Oh my God this girl might see me and I might have to interact with her. Grow up, you are just embarrassing yourself.

I have to agree, getting called out on charging is dumb. Especially if the person who setup on defense hasn't even been there for more than a second.

[QUOTE="oneMoreComment"][QUOTE="-Tish-"]lol Why is everyone saying 2010? 2010 is the END of the decade. -Tish-

Ugh no its not. Unless the year 2000 doesn't exist for you. A decade is 10 years. :?

The year 0 didn't exist. Therefore the FIRST decade was 1-10. From there it went 11-20, and so on. Notice the last digit in the starting year is one... the last digit in 2011 is one... the last digit in each ending year is zero... the last digit in 2010 is zero...

My bad. Forgot 0 was not a year.
