Well, this sounds promising. I'm not a particularly huge fan of the souls games, but I have to admit- the idea of thoughtful, technical combat as a jedi sounds really fun. Respawn usually has strong mechanics, I hope the story is as good as the rest of the package.

I'm really stoked this is happening! And I take no small amount of glee in how much this backfired into blizzards face. You would think these companies, with all of their think tanks and PR departments would know better than this! They could of just quietly let this go by, without drawing any attention to it, and most of us wouldn't even have known about it. Instead they largely contributed to the global spotlight on this incident, and really helped contribute to the visibility Hong Kong movement.

ON THE ISSUE THAT THERE IS A SPECIFIC TIME AND PLACE TO EXPRESS POLITICAL VIEWPOINTS OR BRING ATTENTION TO ABUSES OF POWER.

This view, while at first glance may seem sensible or harmless, is actually quite dangerous. It is much more in the spirit of authoritarianism and fascism. It is a view associated with privilege. What is the proper place to protest or voice support against the unjust? In specific fenced off areas that the government deems acceptable? On certain forums or channels dedicated to the issue that can be controlled or obscured from view?

Governments hold on to power by controlling the narrative through censorship and manipulation.

The very nature of demonstrations and protesting is to be DISRUPTIVE. Throughout history, political and social change has not been brought about by movements protesting in fenced off areas, but by marching down city streets and putting there message out into the public forum wherever and however. Think of civil rights movements, think of Sit In's.

China is a place where freedom of speech and political opinions of the people are not encouraged. It is a dangerous place to voice political dissent, and information is heavily controlled. the same avenues for getting messages out doesn't exist under chinese control. it's hard to put spotlights on things and its hard to get support for your viewpoints if no one knows about them. People need to disrupt by thinking outside the box and using whatever channels and avenues open up to them. There is no proper time and place to protest the abuse of human rights, or to protest a peoples lack of freedom.

Liberation for Hong Kong!

@killrave: My guess is that spider man has a history of featuring different actors and different looks. I think it's something the audience has more or less accepted. But audiences have been living with the same avengers characters for what.. a decade? There is a really long history there, so I could understand why people are so jarred by seeing different faces on the characters.

Well, I'm not going to say this game is a 'pile of steaming garbage,' because I just don't believe in calling a game that. But I find it really disenchanting and frankly alarming as hell that so many people are falling over backwards in the comments here. I think one of the problems is that the overall quality of games has really shifted from originality and creativity to paint by numbers games checking off standard market tested and addicted features. The last 15 years has seen the industry go from making numerous innovative and unique entries to becoming a factory for mass producing clones of Halo, Grand Theft Auto, and COD: Modern Warfare. And while those games were ground breaking and original at the time, for every Bioshock, or Dead Souls, or Portal was a river of forgettable, mediocre, and mostly adequate games designed more to fulfill quarterly goals and investor portfolios and not so much to break new ground in creativity. So I guess in that sense, maybe the younger generations could be forgiven for just not really knowing any better? Also, games like The Last of Us, RDR1 and 2, even early AC and Far Cry games were much greater than the sum of their parts and trying to justify a game because they have copied mechanical elements from these is to tragically misunderstand why they are so critically acclaimed. And not every is going to be or even has to be a Souls, or Last of Us, or whichever classic, and I don't think anyone would say that there is no fun to have on these factory games, but spraying fubreeeze on a pile of poo doesn't transform the poo into a cream soda. As someone who has loved and played video games for the past 30 years (Hi, son!) this game is a great example of what a bowl of oatmeal would look like as a video game.

Oh, and another thing- ya'll who are surprised about your comments being deleted, maybe should have a closer look at the disclaimer at the top of this comment section. The state of this comment section is not dissimilar to the state a porto potty after an ICP festival. It's one thing to take issue with a review, but it's pretty vile, and actually a bit embarrassing to see what hateful, shallow cowards many of ya'll are. And if I wasn't clear enough, this game is a steaming pile of garbage. Namaste MF"er's

I suppose I'll be the one voice of dissent on here, but I struggled with reading this review, and ultimately stopped reading it. I absolutely appreciate and recognize that there is no concrete required way of writing reviews, and everyone tends to do them differently. The reviews that I personally like inform more on specific qualities of a game, what it does well, what it doesn't well, and leans less on summarizing and calling out specific aspects of the game. I don't know if I'm totally off based, but it just seemed like the more I read the more I felt like there were things I would of liked to have stumbled upon and found out on my own... But I guess it still did it's job, because I still want to get the game. :)
