no way, none of those games esp. GTA iv and crysis will run on your system, the graphics card is pretty poor and the processor isnt great either

Just wait for the summer and get an i7! Its what I'm doing, you'll be up to date with the absolute latest and wont need to worry about changing for a long time...If you have the option to buy an i7 theres really no point going for a 2 generation old dual core, or a 1 gen old quad core (the i7 920 isnt that much more expensive anyway)

Yeah I dunno about older games but anything recent (and worth playing) uses dual GPU fine, which is why the dual GPU 295 and 4870x2 from ATI are both beasts when it comes to gaming...You've got a really nice rig there, will be buying something very similar around summer!

Just get a GTX 295 - Fastest GPU in the world and can handle any game inc. Crysis. Looking at the benchmarks, the performance is above Dual 260's and a bit behind Dual 280's, and considering it is just under £400 and dual 280's will set you back over £600, its far more worth going for the 295.

Also you don't necessarily need an i7 940, the performance increase in gaming over the 920 will be really minimal, but otherwise it looks awesome!

As someone mentioned, a PC for gaming, a Mac for everything else. Its as simple as that really.

Well if your going for a top of the range processor (i7) then it might be wise to get a top graphics card aswell - I'll be buying a very similar PC in the summer and I'm planning to get a GTX 295 with it (fastest GPu on the planet, faster than the 4870X2). If that's too expensive then get a GTX 280, it'll be cheaper by then and it's still pretty beastly.

Depends on how long you plan to use it before you can upgrade - If you can change your CPU in about 2 years then there's no point at all, just get a Quad Core its good enough.

If the PC has to last 4yrs + then go for the latest, i7 does have some good advantages

It IS a single graphics card, but a Dual GPU graphics card. Same goes for the X2, also a single graphics card with a dual GPU. I mean just because a PC has a quad core processor doesn't mean you can say its actually 4 computers.

Considering it is only one card, the fact that it nearly matches 2 280's is incredible frankly.

Well to be honest if you already have a Quad Core system there's no need to upgrade to an i7, just wait till the next major CPU launch.

But if you're buying a new PC this year (like me) then it's best going for the latest tech, so an i7 isdefinitely worth it for all its advantages
