Here's the true timeline.

- they make games, no thought of timeline

- randomly try to tie them together

parkurtommo

Nintendo has had that timeline for ages now. Why would you assume they've just made it up?

Here's a proper image of the timeline recently revealed in the official Zelda encyclopaedia:

end? what about the games to come? rofl this is so dumb

There's no end yet. If there was there would be a game connecting to the word "end" you little nub.

Last generation, sure we had the PSP vs. DS rival, and they were pretty much the only portable devices to play games on.

However, these days, the abomination that is "smartphone gaming" seems to be a much bigger threat, even though it shouldn't be.

The Vita and 3DS are the pioneers of next-gen portable gaming. Both have graphics that we never even imagined on a portable device! The 3DS is showing off above-average graphics (examples such as Mario Kart, Resident Evil, 3D Land) and the Vita is showing off games that look as if they are being played on a PS3. While these systems are amazing, and relatively affordable (more so the 3DS) smartphone gaming seems to be trashing the hanheld gaming market.

Why though? These games are only entertaining for at most a day, while we have games like LittleBigPlanet, Modnation Racers, Mario Kart, etc. I use to be a Nintendo fanboy, then I was a Sony fanboy, and now I just said screw it and why not enjoy the best of both worlds. But I will never ever give in to smartphone gaming.

tl;dr you shouldn't be just a Nintendo or Sony fanboy, you should be both, and against smartphone crap. I will be buying both with no regrets.

So far, the best 3DS games only have a "TBA 2012" release date, so I would be interested to hear what you think the month of release will be for these games:

Luigi's Mansion 2: I think this will be an early 2012 release, at least I hope it is so I can get it for my birthday in June. Plus I can't wait to get my hands on the sequel to the game that I pretty much grew up with.

Animal Crossing: I'm thinking Mid-2012, not sure why though.

Paper Mario: Mid to Late 2012.

Kid Icarus uprising: I don't know if it's confirmed but I heard somewhere this is gona be early 2012.

I think I'm missing some. If I did feel free to post and predict them too ;)

Majora's Mask is my favorite Zelda game and in the top 5 of my favorite games. However, unlike a lot of people, I thought the Great Bay Temple was rather easy, once you figured out the layout.

The Water Temple was more tedious because I realized that, a lot of the times, I would raise the water too high and then I would have to lower it all over again to get a key.

I probably agree about the N64. Even with the added processor the best that the SNES did was starfox. Going from that and 2D sprites to open worlds like Banjo and Zelda is pretty amazing.

The Xbox was a pretty massive jump over the previous generation too. It was even a pretty massive leap over the DC.

Banjo_Kongfooie

As soon as I saw the topic I thought N64. I am honestly surprised that noone came here to argue the Saturn. The Xbox was a monster but it had no predacessor.

I mean my jaw literally dropped to the floor playing Banjo Kazooie... To this day it remains plastered in my mind as the first 3D game (even though it is not but just as I played it first).

I mean and WOW at Conker's graphics, that could easily pass for a ps2 game.

Hey Banjo Kongfooie :)

This reminds me of the Seinfeld finale when they get arrested for not doing anything to help the victim :o
