Just a TIP, free for those out there who don't like spending the measly $50.00 for a year of XBL (Like me lol)

Go on eBay, spend $48.00 (with shipping) on a "Vision Cam Bundle"

You get 2 Free XBL Games (plus other free Vision Cam games you can download on XBL), 200 XBL points to spend on whatever you want, The Vision Camera, a Headset AND 12 months Xbox live. I am sorry, but there is NO WAY anyone will ever convince me this is a bad deal. I purchased 2, which did give me 2 years XBL (I also kept both 200 pt cards). I sold the extra Cam + 2 free games and the headset on craigslist for $35. So I ended up spending about $65 for two years XBL, a camera, a headset, 400 points and the two free games. Not at all a bad deal...

Sure it's not free live, but you certainly get something for your money.

Here is a basketball reference- Microsoft= Paul Pierce Sony= Derrick Rose.....

Microsoft has been in the "Next gen" for quite a while ('05) and we have seen them year after year pump out AAA game after AAA game but there are still problems - RROD, 50$ Live etc., etc. Kind of like Paul Pierce, who we have seen over his NBA career put up solid numbers and good games, but hasn't reached the top because of his issues DEFENSE POor SHOOTING etc.

Now Sony on the other hand, we have seen a lot out of over the past three years, (like Derrick Rose) and we don't know weather he will be an amazing player or just another Nikoloz Tskitishvili. Sony has some amazing games coming out MGS4, FF13 KH# WKS etc etc but we just don't know how they are going to pan out or if they are going to pan out at all.

memphis5280

As this is an odd analogy, I will attempt to translate it into video game addicts lingo as they rarely speak sports unless it's from Madden 08' or The Show or something like that. Lets see how I do.... I will also fill in any gaps lol...

Sony came into the picture some 10 years ago with the PS1 (which they obtained rather questionably but we won't go there right now). The PS1 did a good job of replacing the Super Nintendo that it was originally designed to be an addon for and gave us many great games. It assisted in killing Sega that deserved to die after giving us the 32X bundle. They then went on and improved it with the PS2. Much like the PS1 it was Mechically flawed, but people didn't care because it had the best games. People rejoyced at it's awsome game selection and frequent great titles thus making it the undisputed best console of that generation. They have now moved on to the PS3. The PS3 thus far has NOT had the game selection and has been a constant let down in "Hype vs. Reality" when games are released. The PS3 has some "Big Name" titles in the mix right now, these titles could either end up being the start of the past due great game selection on Sony's newest console, or they could ruin them like they have other titles which leaves the future of the console in the hands of the developers and thus uncertain.

Microsoft entered the scene to compete with the PS2. The PS2 at the time already had a fan base and good game contracts. Microsoft was the "New Kid on The Block" and though it was a good console, in my opinion better hardware wise than the PS2, it could not compete with the PS2's software selection and thus it couldn't really stand a chance of beating the PS2 in that console war. Simply put, people may love their gaming systems but they buy them for games and the PS2 had it when the XBOX didn't. Now in the current generation the tables have turned a bit. The 360 is flawed hardware wise, unlike the original XBOX, however it has the software selection much like the PS2 did. The 360 is now the console that puts out great titles one after another and thus far their games generally do live up to the hype (not perfect always, but obviously far better than the competition). It is due to this that 360 owners have become very loyal to their console, much like PS2 owners swore by theirs. Their titles sell very well which encourages developers to continue to make games for their system.

There is no question to date who has the better software selection. The current selections are like photo negatives of the last generation as in they are the same, but with the sides reversed. There is also no question that if software selections vs. title quality continue at the rate they have that Microsoft will emerge the clear winner of this generation console war. The questions that remain are simple: 1.) Can Sony turn the tides and produce enough attractive exclusives to truly make their system better for gaming than the competition? 2.) Can Microsoft maintain the pace and continue to make blockbuster titles like Bio Shock, Gears of War, and Halo 3 AND at the same time continue to compete the way they have been with Sony for the RPG market?

I personally do NOT look at upcoming titles to determine my opinions. It's like basing your real life beliefs on the children's stories your parents told you as a kid. I base it off walking into a game store, looking at the shelves and saying "What can I take home right now that will be fun to play". Before you glimps too far into the future, remember to look at the past. If the weather man told you it would be "Sunshine every day".... yet you suffered a year of snow wearing shorts, would you question his forecast for tomorrow or would you continue to get out those swim trunks in hopes for that day in the pool you've been waiting for?

lol come on, resistence 2 will have 60 player online, there is no 360 game that has gone that high, but gears of war is different to MGS4, gears you fight aliens, which is probably a story done millions of times, metal gear solid you fight real people in a world which is controlled by the patriots by its digital flow, and the patriots are dead, you also play as snake who has been cloned from big boss and has brothers liguid, solidus, yeah i think gears has better story hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

:)

Have you ever played COD4 on the PS3? One thing I learded from COD4 is how bad the PSN network really sucks. In a 12 on 12 match you can count on at least one out of every five or so games you won't finish because the host loses connection and you're shot back to an empty room to start your search for a new match. This is especially fun when sometimes you spend SEVERAL attempts trying to find a match to join and either get nothing or get some crap match with like 3 or 4 people in it. Maybe they fixed that since I quit playing on the PS3, I don't know, all I know is it's NEVER happened to me on Live, not even once. 60 PEOPLE ONLINE OMG! ... You know what that points out to me... It's gonna go one out of two ways. 1) The game will be a blockbuster hit (yeah, I know this is a stretch for any PS3 game but we'll go with this for now). With it's blockbuster hit you'll have full 60 person matches and the Playstation network will choke to death on it's own bandwidth and die of lag induced suffocation. 2) The game will end up like all other PS3 exclusives thus far and suck, making it so that you can't fill up a full match to save your life and matches end up hard to find and often unevenly matched. Sure, resistance 2 sounds great in theory but I don't think the reality of it is going to pan up to the fanboy hype.

ALso just a little side note here. This list isn't meant to bash or boast one console over the other. I didn't research a list to throw up on here just so I could say something either. This was litterally a copy/paste of the scratch pad I have on my desktop of RPG's to look into. At the time I looked into it, certain ones were exclusive that I may not have listed on the other system. For those of you that have read however, as I stated it's hard to keep up with that as it changes nearly every press release. Until a game hits a shelf, you don't know and neither do I.

those are not RPGs.... By the way, Elveon, Rise of Argonaugts, and The Last Remenant, and Mass Effect, and Oblivion are all multiplats.

Also Persona 4 is a PS2 game. there is a shin megami tensei game coming out for PS3 though, and there is a KH 3 rumor too, and if it's true, it's most likely a PS3 or a wii game. It depends. Eternal Sonanta is coming out for PS3 too.

dkhw

If you had read my post, you would have seen that a) Eternal Sonata was listed as upcoming on PS3, Oblivion was listed as multi-plat, and this post was NEVER meant to be anything about "exclusive" titles. You should do a lot more reading before you start trying to flame as this post was simply to let platform owners know which RPG's are available for their systems. PC and Wii are not part of this discussion, hense why it's called "PS3 vs 360" game lineup. Games like Mass Effect etc. are listed on the platforms they are available for as part of these consoles. I have looked and seen that "Elveon", "Last Remenant" and "Rise of Argonaughts", should also appear on the PS3, however setting aside the "Hopeful PS3 fansites" all official press releases say that Mass Effect will not come to the PS3. As I stated in my post for those who have read it is a work in progress, I never claimed to be a software spokesperson, this is simply information I have found searching for my own means.

Also, I know apparently you skipped to the end of my comment before reading but there was this part that apparently you missed despite the caps used in the beginning of the sentence so I will give you a re-write... "PLEASE KEEP IN MIND! This list was not written based on what you personally count as an "RPG"..."

If the developers list it as an RPG than it's in here. If you cut out genres of RPG's then you limit what your list can contain. For example, if I limited the list to "Classic style RPG's" there would be nothing in existance for the PS3 except hopes for the future. Unless you want to count Enchanted Arms which is more of a "Strategy-RPG" mix. Even what many call the "Best RPG ever", Oblivion is actually a first person Action-RPG.

I have looked at the lineup for both systems, I personally do not think the PS3 lineup looks any better than the 360. There was all those 17 vs. 10 exclusives ad's out for a couple days but Microsoft saw to it that they were for the most part taken down after proving they were full of $#!^.

I admit, there could be some cool games coming to the PS3, and if there are, I will buy them. I don't hate my PS3, in fact, I have been trying to show it love lately and getting games for it. I went and bought Oblivion for the PS3 even though the 360 version rated higher... For no other reason than I thought I needed more games for the PS3.

Anyway, I made a list for you RPG fans out there. It's actually my personal list as I search for games, this information isn't exactly "Concrete" but it's as close as I can get with current information available.

Ok, being that I am a huge RPG fan and usually at least try to play EVERYTHING that even resembles an RPG I have been working on a list of RPG games I can expect or am currently shopping for/own on both systems. Please take in mind that this list is a work in progress. Also, many games are truly difficult to say if they will end up being multiplatform before they are on a shelf. In this list I will put all that I have found "SO FAR". Mind you I am constantly updating it as I find out either that a game has gone multi-plat or was cancelled, etc.

PLEASE KEEP IN MIND! This list was not written based on what you personally count as an "RPG". It is based on the publishers and includes all genres of RPGs. Also, if I forgot any no need to flame me. Just let me know,I will confirm and add.

You should probably get your facts straight a bit. True, the FF series has some serious fanboys that will lust for anything they publish. I know because for a LONG time I was one of them. However you should probably go to Wiki and look at some sales figures. FF8 sold significantly less than 7, barely surpassing FF7's pre-orders for total sales. The rest never once even hit the top 20 and overall sales were not great at all. This is one of the main reasons Square is reluctant to release FF13 until there are significantly more PS3's in homes for fear it will be a flop. When you spend as much money as they do to even develop a game for newer systems and make them great you can sell a million copies and still do horrible in regards to proffit.

QUOTE="sdu_1111"]

First, you need to stop writing long text and just get to the point.

Second, i would not mention Infinite Undescovery as an "innovation" title since it's basically Star Ocean but the name is changed.

Third, dont ever comparing anything to Final Fantasy Brand. Only Lost Odysses is worth mentioning in the same sentence as FF

LOL, Man, don't tell me crap about Final Fantasy. I beat the original Final Fantasy probaby 50+ times back when it was the original out on the NES and I scrapped through final fantasy 3 (6) probably 20 times before you even knew what the heck Final Fantasy was. Yeah, FF7 was great, FF8 was alright, FF9, 10 sucked, FF11 isn't even part of the franchise, FF12 was alright but proof Square is trying to be trendy which is the FF franchise has not been great in sales since the release of 8. Final Fantasy became a legend on the SNES with one really great game on PC and PS1, but since their games haven't been all that. I own every one of them and will own FF13 some year when it's released but that don't make it great. Lost Odyssey was written by the guy who invented Final Fantasy and it's more of a FF game than anything past 8 comes close to. Though I am certain you're just talking out your rear and have no clue what I am talking about because you're just one of those trolls who throws in his 2c about games he's never played and gets all his information from sites where poeple don't even own 360's.

Oh yeah, and one more note to ZodiacalRad. Seriously, get real, nothing on the PS3 has a prayer of outselling any anticipated game on the 360. Gears in it's first month will sell more copies than there are people who even own a PS3 in the U.S. which is the only place MGS is popular.
