I want to add something to this debate: just because the PS3's current games do not look as good as, lets say Gears of War, does thay mean they will never? Specs only prove. Statments used by respect companies prove a system's capabilities (recent statments, of course)
wallpaper42 , you are joking, aren't you? A Wii-remote can be a gun, a bat, a boxing glove, a sword, a football, a pointer, a golf club, and for my personal ideas: a spear, a drum stick, musical purposes, and even more. I don't have to speak futher. TO think that a motion sensing sword is the same as the Wii-remote is foolish. Before you blindly bash, take into consideration the good parts of any console. Thats what I do....
You guys think standards for video games do not change? The Wii is current gen because it precedes the last gen, offers something new to gaming (plus the motion sensitivity is top of the line for consumer goods). You think graphics will define next-gen? Hell no! We are seeing change, even this gen, that will define the future. You think sony and microsoft will not offer motion sensitivity new gen? THey will! They must! Nintendo sets standards, and does not follow them. So, to answer your question: yes, the Wii is current gen because of what it offers. A motion sensing sword is NOTHING in comparison to the Wii-remote.
