Pokemon cards!

Wow, the shipping was fast! I got the card set that I bought off eBay, just a mere 4 days after purchase. It's a special set to commemorate the 10th anniversary of Pokemon movies(the first film aired in Japan on '98, it says). It contains 11 cards of all the legendary Pokemon in the films PLUS a bonus 12th card(of Darkrai)for whoever buys tickets to watch the 10th movie: Dialga vs. Palkia vs. Darkrai. All wrapped in a folder of sorts, with the Pokemon's name printed on top of each card and the movie which they made their big-screen debut.

And here's the clincher: this set was never sold outside of Japan. For US$50, it's not a bad deal for something so rare and collectible(yeah, I still collect Pokemon cards :P). At least now I know I can buy online safely. I've scanned all 12 awesome cards for everyone to see~!

Mewtwo, Lugia, Entei, Celebi, Latios, Latias

Jirachi, Deoxys, Mew, Lucario, Manaphy, Darkrai

And no, I can't scan the folder, it's too thick to fit into the scanner. These are just the cards in their plastic wrapping.

And for any card aficionados out there, I'll try to translate theattacks for each Pokemon.

Mewtwo-90HP
1. Barrier- Flip a coin. If heads, prevent all effects of an attack, including damage, done to Mewtwo on your opponent's next turn.
2. Psywave- 20x - Does 20 damage times the number of Energy on the Defending Pokemon.

Lugia-100HP
1. Hyper Beam- 20 - Flip a coin. If heads, discard an Energy card attached to the Defending Pokemon.
2. Aeroblast- 40+ - Flip 2 coins. This attack does 40 plus 20 more damage for each heads.

Entei-80HP
1. Roar- The Defending Pokemon is switched with one of your opponent's Benched Pokemon. Your opponent chooses which Pokemon to switch
2. Fire Spin- 70 - Discard 2 Basic Energy cards attached to Entei(this attackdoes nothingif you can't discard the Energy needed)

Celebi-60HP
1. Heal Bell- Remove 2 damage counters from each of your Pokemon.
2. Hidden Power- 20+ - If the opponent has a Stadium card in play, this attack does 20 plus 30 more damage

Latias-70HP
1. Charm- On your opponents next turn, anydamage done to Latias by the Defending Pokemon is reduced by 30
2. Water Sport- 20+ - if the total number of Energy on Latias is less than the total Energy on the Defending Pokemon, this attack does 20 plus 30 more damage

Latios-80HP
1. Refresh- Remove all special conditions and 2 damage counters from Latios
2. Double-Edge- 70 - Latios does 20 damage to itself

Jirachi-60HP
1. Future Sight- Your and your opponent may look at the top 5 cards of your deck, rearrange them in any order, then put back on top of your deck.
2. Doom Desire- Discard all Energy cards attached to Jirachi. The Defending Pokemon is Knocked Out at the end of your opponent's next turn

Deoxys-80HP
1. Recover- Discard one [Psychic] energy card and remove 4 damage counters from Doexys.
2. Psycho Boost- 60 - This attack does 30 damage on your next turn.

Mew-60HP
1. Teleport- Swich Mew with one of your Benched Pokemon
2. Psychic- 20+ - Does 20 plus 10 more damage for each Energy on the Defending Pokemon.

Lucario-80HP
1. Aura Sphere- 20 - Choose one of your opponent's Benched Pokemon and do 10 damage to it.
2. Close Combat- 60 - Any damage done to Lucario on your opponent's next turn is increased by 30.

Manaphy-70HP
1. Aqua Ring- 20 - Switch Manaphy with one of your Benched Pokemon.
2.Heart Swap- Choose one of your opponent's Benched Pokemon. Move all damage counters from the Defending Pokemon to that Pokemon.(there's a last part which I can't quite get at the moment)

Darkrai-80HP
Item held- Enigma Berry- If Darkrai is attacked by a Fighting-type move, remove 4 damage counters from Darkrai at the end of your turn.
1. Dark Slice- 10 - Search your deck for a Stadium card, show it to your opponent and put it into your hand. Shuffle your deck afterward. If there is a Stadium card in play, discard it.
2. Roar of Time- 80 - Search your discard pile for 3 Pokemon cards, show them to your opponent, and shuffle them into your deck.(If you have less than 3 Pokemon in your discard pile, this attack does nothing)

Phew.....that's a lot.

eBay- Buying stuff

Alright a short blog this time, I'm just here to ask a question on buying stuff off eBay(I've been eyeing a set of Pokemon cards for some time). Is it really, really, REALLY safe to place a credit card number on file for verification on eBay? They said that the number and info are protected and will not be charged, but I'm still not entirely convinced. I repeat, is it alright to let eBay.com know my credit card number? I need help pronto! My watched item ends in 2 days!!!

High School Graduate

Well, what can I say? 5 years goes by pretty quickly.I'm not a nerd or anything, but between all the exams I've endured and the heart-breaking goodbyes with friends, I'd have to say I enjoyed high school. Really I do.

Nothing much happened on graduation day. A stage was set up in the hall and we were all treated to a grand ceremony. Everyone enjoyed thie final days as if they've never did before. And at the end, I turned toward the school door and I say to myself....

'See you on November 12 when the government exams start, ya old bugger~' :P

Woo :D

Zack and Wiki

When 3rd party games for the Wii are good they're excellent. Z&W proves it, scoring unanimous raves from Gamespot(8.5), IGN and Nintendo Power(both 9.0). Lots of challenging and clever puzzles, beautiful art design and, for once, innovative use of the Wii Remote without making the motion controls a disaster.

It's really surprising for all those reviewers to actually accept the Wii motion controls, considering they've been so apprehensive to it for a few months now. It shows that still not enough effort is being put in by most other developers to perfect the movements to make it workable to everyone playing their games. Stuff like Dewy's Adventure, Donkey Kong Barrel Blast or Dragon Quest Swords, to most people the controls aren't a problem as soon as you get used to them, but professionals view it differently and call the controls 'sloppy'. Let Z&W be a lesson to them(the developers). I guess everyone's a 'control' freak.

Another thing is with the graphics....How many Wii games look that amazing? Games don't have to beultra-realistic to look good. Besides, the Wii rarely has any crazy-looking graphics without messing them up first. This art $tyle suits the system to a 'T'. As long as there's fluid animation, consistent framerate, and environments that don't look like they were made of bricks and large pixels, they're fine. Call the colors kiddy, call them anything you like, but you can't deny the sharpness and superiority of it to most other Wii games. Even TP's graphics loses out to it in some ways.

You know, I'd really like to talk more about Z&W, but....I haven't got the game yet so yeah :P. Let's see how good this game can get. Arr, it be time to plunder some ca$h to buy it!

Games purchase 3

And not just any 2 games, they're not JP games that no one cares about but me, they're quite highly-rated ones!

1. Metroid Prime 3: Corruption

I bet most of you have completed(or sped through) MP3 already. Hey it's not my fault that I'm late for the party! Not much graphical updates, but the whole thing looks awesome. The inclusion of voice-acting made it even more involving than the first 2. The controls.....uh, it's going to take some getting used to. Let's see...A is to fire, B is to jump, C to lock-on....wait, Morph Ball....argh. The beginning of the game blew me away with its intensity(I LOVED the pirateattack at Norion ^^). Hope this keeps up!

2. Drawn to Life

It's a fairly tedious platformer, with straightforward level design and not much standout, but drawing most of the environmental objects, your weapons(not to mention yourself!) takes all the boredom away. Seriously, if your inclined, you can spend more time detailing and decorating the game with your doodles more than anything else. Plus, the in-game graphics are colorful and oh-so-cute, just the way I like them! Wonder where I can get art for the villagers(known as raposas)? They're adorable~

Updates and stuff

Gamespot put review scores on MySims and Drawn To Life today. DtL got a 7.5, which is quite a good score. This game is MINE! Cause, who doesn't like creating their own characters and have them come to life? I know I do! Great if you haven't tried Magic Pengel for PS2(which is an RPG, but also lets you make your own stuff). MySims got a little lower, a 6.5. Kinda unexpected, this game had a lot of hype around it. I may not get it, but I'll consider. That score's a bit deterring though.

And guess what? I DID find more import games in my collection! Here's the updated list:

  1. Pokemon Fushigi no Dungeon: Ao no Kyuujotai
  2. Pokemon Trozei
  3. Pokemon Ranger
  4. Pokemon Pearl
  5. Pokemon Battle Revolution
  6. Kirby-Air Ride
  7. Dragon Quest Swords
  8. Densetsu no Stafy 3
  9. Densetsu no Stafy 4
  10. Super Mario Advance
  11. Super Mario Advance 2: Super Mario World
  12. Kotoba no Puzzle: Mojipittan DS
  13. Taiko no Tatsujin DS
  14. Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo Tales
  15. Mizuiro Blood
  16. Pokemon Fushigi no Dungeon 2: Yami no Tangentai

EXAMS!!! (caps)

^ Note the above blog title. You know what that word means, right? It means less time on Gamespot and more time sleeping....uh, studying on my desk. It's a long trial exam, so I probably won't show up to post very often until the end of September.

to tmunger: Don't worry, I'm not abandoning the Cyber-Lip story. I'll try to make it after I get through all this craziness

Me and My Imports

No, no picture this time, unless you want me to buy a digital camera. Wow. I've finally lost count of how many import games I really own(and I have a lot).I'll list them all out here. Let's see...

  1. Pokemon Fushigi no Dungeon: Ao no Kyuujotai (aka PMD Blue)
  2. Pokemon Trozei
  3. Pokemon Ranger
  4. Pokemon Pearl(all in JP, remember!)
  5. Pokemon Battle Revolution(what is it with me and Pokemon games? o.o)
  6. Dragon Quest Swords
  7. Densetsu no Stafy 3(on emulator)
  8. Densetsu no Stafy 4(in my DS)
  9. Kotoba no Puzzle: Mojipittan DS(word puzzle)
  10. Taiko no Tatsujin DS(aka Taiko Drum Masters)
  11. Mizuiro Blood(Just bought yesterday)
  12. Pokemon Fushigi no Dungeon 2: Yami no Tangentai(coming soon....!)

This may not be all the imports I have, maybe if I look harder in those piles of trash...err I mean old games, I'll find some more :)...Now if you excuse me...*digs into collection*

Metroid Prime 3 -8.5

It's official. Either they have extreme standards for games, or they're strongly biased towards the Wii. I haven't seen a Wii game get at least a score of more than 9 save for Wave Race 64, RE4 and WarioWare.....All the AAA titles from Nintendo are being dissed by them...next thing you know, Phantom Hourglass gets less then 8.5, Dewy's Adventure will have a 7.0, Mario Galaxy won't score better than Zelda, and the unthinkable might happen to our beloved SSBB(Melee got an 8.8 back then).......

Maybe they aren't biased, but if I see GTA 4, Halo 3, MGS4, Rock Bandand Spore get near-perfect GS scores way above 9.....

More games!

I bought another 2 to pass the week's school break!

1. Mario Strikers Charged

Pretty sure most of you got it already, it's awesome isn't it? A bit hard to control, and the computer opponents handed my ass on a platter. Seriously, they were HARD! It's going to take a while to beat.

2. Taiko no Tatsujin DS: Touch de Dokodon!

If you missed Taikono Tatsujin(Taiko Drum Masters in the US)and it's many alternate versions on the PS2, catch this DS one! Man, I thought I was going to be seeing tons of unknown Japanese songs, but to my amazement, the Pokemon D/P opening theme song was there!!!! So was the Super Mario Bros. theme! Cool~ :3
