@princetom This animated character doesn't look anywhere near as good as the NVIDIA demo. He's firmly in the uncanny valley. Though this is a lot more feasible from a logistical standpoint.
@deathblow3 @placksheep @zzamaro Whether you consider it valid or not, opportunities like the Steam 'flash sales', the Indie Gala bundles, ($5.92 for up to 8 games) the sales on Green Man Gaming, and many more put the comparatively meager discounts on physical copies to shame.
Distributing physical items like optical discs or boats costs WAY more money than transmitting data over the internet. The data on those discs is indistinguishable from digitally distributed sources.
Another detail that you guys are missing, is that the people who already have the game (digitally or otherwise) are unaffected. It's just no longer on sale through xbox live.
@zzamaro Have fun over-paying for your games. If people didn't get their fill of this mediocre game from 2008 by now, I doubt they'll shed a tear. They'll be forced to play something that isn't crap.
@ILoveThePSP_ The whole "50% of gamers are female" statistic is extremely misleading. My 58-year old mother plays flash games. She is not a 'gamer' in any sense of the word. Casual, mobile, and flash-based gaming is an entirely different paradigm, and is not what anybody would identify as a gamer's game.
@Mar_Sama Who uses a DVD drive anymore? I think the whole point of the steam 'big picture mode' is that you don't need the clunky mouse and keyboard setup. You can access all your games with a controller, or if you choose, mouse and keyboard.
The components draw at most 40W total. A helicopter-loud cooling solution is not necessary.
What's really cool about this device, is that you get to choose which peripherals and devices are required. And Xi3 claims the X7a can run Crysis 2. These are sexy devices. If they can get the price point down, they'll print their own money.
