I haven't read a huge amount of the Jack Ryan novels. But of those that I have, this seems very little like Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan. But rather a cross between Jack Ryan and John Clark. Not saying that's a bad thing, but really putting Tom Clancy's name above the title, seems like a lie. To me this is not how Tom Clancy envisioned Jack Ryan.

But as Tom Clancy said on the Sum of All Fears DVD commentary, 'I'm the author whose novel they ignored.' Amazing novel, but from what I've heard not so much a great film.

@bdrtfm: I watched TFA and Rogue One over the weekend. And honestly I just don't see what people like about those films. They are okay films, but far from being even good. TFA to me just felt like a series of events that happened in the characters lives, without any real story cohesion between them, with a few 'nods' towards ANH. And from start to finish something felt off, and it didn't feel like a Star Wars film to me (neither OT or PT Star Wars). I've been thinking about it for the past two days, but I still can't put my finger on it. I don't know whether it was the cardboard characters, the uninspired music (Seriously the worst score the legend that is John Williams has ever written) or the paper thin story. Something just felt off, to the point where I honestly couldn't feel less interested in watching it again. Which is something I've never experienced with a previous Star Wars film.

Something else I can't help but wonder, is why nobody talks about how terrible the dialogue was in TFA. If it wasn't wooden are clumisly written, it felt like it was written just to give characters something to say, with no real purpose. e.g. the whole scene when Rey and Han are trying to fix the Falcon in hyperspace. Throughout that scene my internal monologue kept saying 'shut up!'

@letsgame82: Or they could just play all the other non-exclusives on the system. I have an Xbox One, and honestly have zero interest in play this, exclusive or not.

@kcudytsur: Which is not good. Box Office Mojo update their projections throughout the latter part of the week, and with every new projection the numbers have come in lower than previously projected. If that trend continues, the numbers could end up lower than the 101 million four day projection. Hard to say whether that will happen, but just consider the fact that at the start of their projections it was set to make 130-150 million.

@VampireLord123: They're doing pretty well, because they have the Star Wars brand behind them. Not because they are very good films, but Disney doesn't care about that, as long as it sells. They will continue to make films, without a care in the world of the quality, or whether the fans come out satisfied. There's a line in Courtney Barnett's song 'Pedestrian at Best', which pretty much sums up Disney's practices with Star Wars: 'Tell me I'm exceptional, I promise to exploit you'.

@Mogan: Some of the early twitter reactions said as much. They were also positive for Batman vs. Superman. So essentially take early twitter reactions with a grain of salt. I think a lot of the time, it's people getting caught up in the occasion of going to the world premiere.

Click Eric Eisenberg's tweet, the tweet before, he's bragging about being at his second Star Wars premiere in 6 months.

@lionheartssj1: This sentence previous to the one you quoted, shows that she didn't contradict herself: 'So it was a hugely important to find a female director for this, if possible.'

@GarGx1: I suppose if you've lived under a rock for the past 86 years, you could possibly need this explained.

@gamingdevil800: Because he's the most unoriginal director working in Hollywood at the moment, and that's saying something. Look at his filmography, the only film he's ever made that was original was Super 8. Even then it's nothing more than a big love letter to Steven Spielberg, a poor one at that.

Honestly after the whole 'he's not Khan.' Film comes out. 'Oh wait yeah he actually is Khan, my bad.' I called TFA being a remember this, that was cool in the original trilogy film. But boy was I not prepared for just how right I was. I honestly didn't think he could push it as far as he did, before someone at LucasFilm didn't step in and say, hold on a minute JJ.

@scottyp360: Jurassic Park was indeed huge upon release. The hype was huge, you couldn't move which seeing it or hearing about it. I think the only film I remember people talking about more is Titanic. Both of which went on to be the highest grossing film of all time.
