River 2 vs. Boca 0!!

Here´s the summary of the game.

It was an intense match. Both teams put more desire than good game. In the end it was River the favoured one. What happened during the first period of the match was redundant. Marcelo Salas got injured and was replaced by Gaston Fernandez, apart from that there is not much to mention. The real match started in the second period. In the first 10 min. Boca had two clear opportunies to score. In the first one a shoot from Cardozo was repeled by Mareque almost on the goal line and the second one was a deviated shoot from Carlos Tevez. Those two were going to be the only true chances that Boca would have for the rest of the game. At the 15th. min. Gaston "la gata" Fernandez found himself with the ball after a lucky rebound and scored the first one for River. From there on the team fortified its defence and adopted a counter-attack stance. Boca tried hard to reach the equality thoughout the remaining of the second period, but the efforts proved futile and at the 44th. min. River (though Nelson Cuevas), in a quick retaliation from a failed attack of Boca, sentenced the result.

Neither Boca nor River played well last Sunday but the last one managed to get victorious, with some luck and oportunism. This defeat of Boca forced the resignation of its DT, Miguel Brindisi, who accepted all guilt for the teams´ bad results in the last matches.

Gaston Fernandez scores

Nelson Cuevas already eluded the goalkeeper (Abondancieri) and will score the second goal.

News of the day

Got back home about 2 hours ago. Among other things I finally went to see the Bourne Supremacy :). I know it´s pretty old, but for reasons that are not worth mentioning here I couldn´t watch before. Anyway, it was really good, but I liked the first one best.

On other related news, the pool guy finally was able to start his job, after three cloudy and rainy days......yay!:D .....with a bit of luck the pool will be open to use in a couple of days.:)

Tomorrow takes place a great soccer event here in Argentina. Boca Juniors faces River Plate for the argentinian tournament!!. Place your predictions people. You better cheer for River or I´ll put you in my black list .............just joking :P. The match will take place tomorrow afternoon (around 6:30pm argentinian time). My bet is a 2-1 for River.

No pool yet!!

Damn weather doesn´t allow me to enjoy of the swimming pool.:( The things is that a couple of weeks ago my folks decided that it was time to freshen up the pool.......you know repaint it, fix some minor cracks, etc. Due to some unpredictable circumstances we had to postpone those repairs.

Finally we were able to scheduled with the pool guy to come by on wednesday of this week and what happened?...........it rained!! It hadn´t rain for over a week and the exact day we are suppose to get it cleaned, its ruined. Not only that but it it´s raining today too (right now!). What are the odds of that?! Anyway the meteorologists say it won´t rain tomorrow..............they better be right or someone´s going to pay big time.

River 3 vs. Olimpo 2

Well the bad streak was broken. It was a tough victory but a vicory in the end. Since the beginning of the match Gallardo´s game became crucial for the team to work properly and in unison (like the past matchs). The first goal came early due to a perfect assistance of Gallardo to Lucho Gonzalez that scored the first one. 10 min. later came in the second goal for River thanks to Maxi Lopez after a good pass of Gaston “gata” Fernandez. River was pure joy from that moment on, however at 31 min. due to a bad rebound Gandolfi was forced to make a penalty to Diego Galvan, that Galvan himelf shooted and scored for Olimpo. Things where not so joyfull now for River which also lost a player due to the expulsion of midfielder Cristian Ledesma. The frist period therefore ended 2-1 for River and with one player less.

The second period saw another early goal of the “millionaires” thanks to the rookie Lucas Mareque, who took advantage of a mistake from Olimpo´s goalkeeper Julio Gaona and set the third goal. All seem pretty much defined, however at the 40th min. came Olimpo´s goal and River had to suffer 5 more minutes to get away with the match.

This victory had double importance if we take into account that both leaders of the tournament (Velez and Newell´s) lost their respective matches and the third position Estudiantes end up tied just like Boca that couldn´t beat Instituto (the last team of the tournament) Hehe.

The match next week will be the greatest “superclassic” Boca-River.*crossing fingers*

Lv. 12 Magician Lord and a lunar eclipse!

Yeah!! Made it to the next level. Took me about 9 to 10 days but I´m finally level 12! Now I´m a proud Magician Lord with a 9% of power.:D

By the way, who of you out there were able to see the eclipse last night. I had the chance to see it thanks to a clear night sky, just before I made it to bed.

River 1 vs. San Lorenzo 2

Once again River lost. It´s the third in a row and it´s starting to be a bad habit. River scored early in the match, actually it was San Lorenzo´s goalkeeper that scored, at 2 min of the start. However 5min. later San Lorenzo tied the match through Zabaleta and it all remained the same. At the 28th min. Costanzo (River´s Goalkeeper) was able to contain a penalty kick from Romagnoli. That was as far as River was going to get. The second half was really bad and above that, at the 24th min. Lavezzi (best player of the mach) scored the second goal for SL and sentenced the result.

Concerning other matches, Boca lost 1-0 to Argentinos and together with River is going down in the position´s board, and the current leaders Newell´s and Velez won their respective matches.

Weekend ends.

This weekend pretty much sucked for me. Had to run errands from one place to another non-stop. Didn´t have much time to browse through the forums.:(

I managed to watch the movie Man on fire. It was good.........entertaining, not much to say about it. Couldn´t get to see the Bourne supremacy as I had planned, but I will watch it in the next few days, that´s for sure. Right now I´m going to spent some time here in GS before I call it the night.

Here are the pics you wanted Iliastse. Sorry about the size but they were the only ones I could find.

River 0 vs. Almagro 2

There is only one way to describe River Plate´s performance: disastrous. It lacked both defence and attack. Never saw them play any worse. This is a result of some bad matches that they have been playing lately (the last match 0-0 was also of a very poor performance too). Almagro didn´t need much to overcome a depressed team that couldn´t manage to stay in control of the ball for more than 10 seconds in a row. Averaging the second half Astrada (DT of River), send in to play to Cuevas and Patiño, but they didn´t seem capable of doing much. The only player that actually saved himself from total embarrassment was Marcelo Gallardo.

Astrada was very critical with his team´s performance and with most of its players. Lets hope all he said in the press conference room serves for the better good (believe when I tell you, he used very harsh expressions to describe certain aspects of the team).

River gave away the lead of the tournament. Now, Velez that won its match 2-1 against Racing last saturday has a rather comfortable first position thanks to the fact that Boca also lost its match 1-0 to Colon.

Return, with news!

Yesterday I was out for most of the day. Went to play some soccer with a couple of friends and then I got myself involved with other things that kept me away from GS for the rest of the day. I got home about 2 am. I was about to check out what had been going on around here, but I was exhausted.

Now, here I am and glad to announce you that I´ve got a fresh new sig!!:) Courtesy of famous sig producer Mad Capsule. Thanks for it MC. I´ll try to catch with what has been going around (missed the wootfest, damn! :( There is going to be a sunday one right?)

Argentinians in the NBA

I woke up today to find out about the good first performances that the argentinian rookie players had in the NBA. Andres "Chapu" Nocioni played 15 minutes and scored 6 points for Chicago Bulls and Carlos Delfino, who played an awful lot of minutes for his first match (20min.), last night scored a 3-point-shot with 6s on the clock to give Detroit the victory over Boston. Tomorrow Manu Ginobili will start his 3rd NBA year in San Antonio against the Knicks.

It just fills me with enormous pride and joy to see fellow argentinians representing us so well in foreign countries.

Chapu Nocioni.
