hello all

i am planning on upgrading my PC within the next month or so to these parts:

-EVGA 8800GT SSC 512mb

-Asus M2N32-SLi wireless edition AM2 nForce 590

-AMD Athlon 64 X2 6400+ 3.2ghz w/ a fan

-Kingston 1024MB PC6400 DDR2 800MHz Memory 4 sticks (4gb)

-Thermaltake TR2 500w power supply

I will be running on XP (waiting for Vista to really settle in before I go to purchase as i do not want to deal with a faulty OS).

Note: i am going to stick with AMD since they have been good for me and im used to them. Also, should i get a more expensive 8800? possibly a GTX or Ultra? my parents are putting down a certain amount of money and, since i can afford, all these parts minus the videocard, would it be smarter to get them to buy me a GTX or ultra? i chose the 8800gt with regard to my own personal budget but seeing that i can afford everything minus the card, i was thinking it might be better to get them to get me the GTX or ultra.

Also, i will be playing games like Crysis, Bioshock, COD4, etc etc... so keep that in mind when you respond back (that is if anyone does lol)

Thanks to those who respond back

hey i dont think anyone has listed Live For Speed yet. its a free game that has a wide range of cars (not toooo many but enough) and it is more realistic than GT4 in my opinion. it also has online play. check it out www.liveforspeed.net and if that dusnt work just search live for speed on google

i suggest trying it out as it is really fun to pick ur favorite car and then tune it to your liking whether its just for crusing or drifting or racing... w/e u want

Hey I was just wondering how well this setup can run:

*Nvidia EVGA 8800 GTS 640mb (is that 320mb card better? wasnt sure)

*3gb RAM

-2x 1gb kingston

-2x 512mb kingston

*AMD 6000+ 3.0ghz

*plenty of hard drive space and a motherboard that i havent decided on yet that will support all of these parts

How should this setup run? Planning on getting this all soon and the motherboard and video card towards the holidays. I am most concerned about newer games mainly bioshock, crysis, CoD 4, Unreal Tournament 2007, and games of that sense. I am not concerned with running these games on super high settings and i would be happy with medium to high results and performance, otherwise i would be maxing out absoultely all parts lol.

Thanks to all that respond.

alright so if i got an 8600 256mb card i would be fine at running decent settings with the above specs i am going to get for crysis?

i just want smooth gameplay and good graphics. they dont have to be the BEST graphics so long as they are smooth and arent the lowest of the low settings you know

well my main concern is running crysis and the recommended specs say you need a 512mb card.... wouldnt the 8600 256mb not be able to run recommended specs?

I am going to upgrade my parts soon and after upgrading my specs will be:

*BFG Nvidia 8500GT 512mb DDR2

*2gb RAM

-kingston 1gb stick

-2x 512 kingston sticks

*AMD Athlon 64 X2 5200+

I am just wondering what kind of performance i should expect and if it will be a good upgrade to be able to support the next 2 or 3 years of gaming
