So it is time for a new CSI game. Let me first say that I love the TV show and own all the games and enjoyed all of them as well.
Now the problem is that the game will be based on the CSI : NY series and not the core Las Vegas show. The last time they tried this was with CSI:Miami, and I think anyone who played the whole series will agree that Miami was the low point for the games.
The other issue is that the graphics are being overhauled to give the game more of a gritty graphic novel feel and look. Now one of the complaints I have always had is that the graphics for the series weren't realistic enough. Now they are toning it down even more!
Now granted some of the locations look good, but the characters, I'm not so sure of.
How this will translate into gameplay we will have to wait and see, but untill then I wait in eager anticipation.
Do you think the new CSI game will be better or worse than the preceding 4 games in the series?
I saw this game and wondered if I should buy it or not, for much the same reasons as you stated.
I read a review that didn't really help. Stating in short :
"The Political Machine 2008
AKA - Cheating Lying B#stards Simulator 2008"
" Occasionally veers on gimmickry, but it's genuinely a smart, novel strategy game"
The reviewer scored it a 79
Now the game is cheap but I don't want to waste my money if it is also crap! :(
EA is finally getting slapped across the face for including that piece of excriment knows as Securom with it's games. A lawsuit was filed against the games publisher that alledges that aspects of this is actually illegal.
Legal documents were filed recently in California, USA by one Melissa Thomas who is suing EA according to the complaint : 'on behalf of herself and all others similarly situated' after buying Spore. The case alleges that 'When consumers make their purchase of Spore, they are told that they are purchasing "an exciting new simulation game that lets you develop your own personal universe." However, the document adds that 'What purchasers are not told is that, included in the purchase, installation, and operation of Spore is a second, undisclosed program.'
Tha legal documents go on to explain that: 'Although consumers are told that the game uses access control and copy protection technology,' says the document, 'consumers are not told that this technology is actually an entirely separate, stand-alone program which will download, install, and operate on their computers, along with the Spore download. Consumers are given no control, rights, or options over SecuROM.'
'even if the consumer uninstalls Spore, and entirely deletes it from their computer, SecuROM remains a fixture in their computer unless and until the consumer completely wipes their hard drive through reformatting or replacement of the drive.'
'Electronic Arts did not disclose to any such purchasers that the Spore game disk also possessed a second, hidden program which secretly installed to the command and control center of the computer (Ring 0, or the Kernel), and surreptitiously operated, overseeing function and operation on the computer, preventing the computer from operating under certain circumstances and/or disrupting hardware operations.'
Now this case relates only to Spore, but Securom is installed with other games as well including Mass effect.
What do you think of this move?
This game will reinvent nothing except Bethesda's return on investment.
First of all it is not a real RPG, it has a 'karma' system that is non persistent, easily circumvented and that no one cares about.(kill two innocents, the go and kill three bad guys and just like that your good again - come on!)
The slow motion head exploding thing is LAME and little more than a gimmick(think about it, is it still going to look cool after the 500th kill shot?)
And I can probably rant on for some time still, So yes the game wont revolutionise anything. And it is a lot less than it could have been.
Despite all it will be a fun game, and the open world sandbox approach is a winner. I will probaly end up buying it and loosing countless hours in the wastelands. So yes it will be fu, it will sell, but it will not revolutionise anything.
Conclusion : Likely to be a good game that could have been a great game.
Minesweeper!
Who's with me?

The only games that 'comes with a PC' is the stuff that installs with windows i.e. Minesweeper, solitaire ext
If you want to buy a pre-built gaming rig, DON'T
Read a little do the research and build your own, You'll get a Superior machine at the end of the day.
Due to my increasingly limited hardware and increasing cheapness, I'd have to go with somewhat older games. If you ask me, the best racing games on the PC (that I played) are NFS Underground 2 and NFS Carbon. Word of advice: whatever game you decide on - ever, not just in this context - stay the **** away from NFS Pro Street.MasterYevon
My esteemed compatriot I feel obligated to point out to you that the aforementioned Computerised Racing simulator Game known commonly as Need for Speed : Carbon is quite simply not worth the money that retail outlets around the world are charging for it. Stated somewhat more plainly : "That game BLOWS".
The proceeding title in the popular franchise by the same name affixed with the title Most Wanted however is well worth it and should be in the games collection of any avid or even casual gaming enthusiast. Furthermore I would like to echo the sentiments expressed by several contributors previously and say that the Trackmania series is worth looking into. As an additional suggestion I would add the Flatout series of racing titles as a thoroughly enjoyable experience.
NFS Pro Street should on the other-hand be avoided like the plague, or any other similar contagious elements.
To sumise: Get Need for Speed : Most Wanted
Flatout 1 or 2
Trackmania( Nations)
I rest my case.
You have to admit that despite how good a game might be, sometimes the endings just suck. After spending in some cases 25+ hours in gaming heaven you then reach the final level/boss fight or whatever and the big dramatic conclusion you have been working towards ..........then...................nothing
Personally my nominations go to Far Cry and Doom3:Resurrection of Evil.
In both instances the final level is probably the most fun, end then the ending is just completely anti-climactic. But that's me. :|
What would be your most underwhelming anti-climactic game ending ever?
I'm facing the same question in a few months, and the only reason I'm even considering Vista is because of DX10. With the release of Windows7 being brought forward to 2010 or so I might hold off untill then.
idSoftworks' John Carmack has openly critisized Vista basically calling it rubbish. The best solution would be to build a dual boot system, but that's a whole different qestion. Let us know what you decide.
