To truely appreciate Halo's story you have to look outside the game, in the novels and the graphic novels... I haven't personally but what i got from the games was a very intrigueing if vague story to follow. Hell, it was more then i got from the first Half-life.. I didn't have the manual and there we're practically zero story elements... the events that took place can be summarized as: Traveling, Scientist banter, destruction, jumping puzzle, shooting, shooting, shooting, jumping puzzle, shooting, soldiers, boss, shooting, jumping puzzle... Rinse and repeat. that's what i got from just playing it and not looking for an underlying message._Cab0ose87_
the story of halflfe
you work at black mesa, then you unleash the aliens unto earth as they seek refuge from the combine, and you try to get out of black mesa, but the h.e.c.u. has to contain and kill all aliens and witnesses, you kill the leader of the aliens, and take a job offer and go to sleep for a few decades. you wake up to find out earth has been enslaved by the combine, a race of much higher intelligence. they took over earth in 7 hours and the administrator of black mesa becomes administrator of earth. you trigger uprisings by invading nova prospekt, a high security prison, and ruin the combine very slowly, until you have more freedom. that is all that is known. also, they got rid of the ability to have birth, so humans are being backed into a corner, and halo's story is much less deep than that, and ive read and played alot of their stuff.
