I guess it's down to bad management having more of a say in the running of the company rather than technical persons as some of the decisions have been downright bizarre.

You would have thought they learned their lessons on pricing and market strategy with the teething problems the PS3 had but it doesn't appear like that.

err, well you just openly insulted some of us.

2nd, i was wrong about those numbers including the Go, thats all

you're missing the point. usually when a consoles price drops it see's a sales increase, and a lot of times surpasses its competitors consoles in sales

the PSP 3000 couldn't even do that. it got outsold by the DSi by 2000 units (not including DS lite ya know)

Thats kinda sad. Coz during a week where the price dropped and public interest surged into higher levels, it still wasn't enuff to surpass DSi

thats the point

If some of you are thin skinned that's your problem. If you don't want to get razed then don't come to sys wars and put such a glum spin on the figures and making mistakes in the post as well. Way to go including the DS lite but not factoring in the Go which hasn't been launched yet. That would mean that people are holding off on buying the psp 3000 in anticipation of the GO and yet it still increased in sales 195%.

nah, i don't care. but i can't speak for others.

But you keep missing the point

Price drop, 200% sales increase. No price drop, sales decrease. DSi still outsold it.

And i sincerely doubt many are waiting on the Go. i mean in NA the Go barely sold as much as the 3000.

Trust me I'm not missing the point you're trying to make. I just don't agree with it. The psp sales increase before the new fancy hardware is released and you put a heavily negative spin on the matter. I could have understood if you waited till the sales dropped off significantly but this is too much of a negative spun by some of you posters. Get a grip. Are you then also saying that the Wii is in a tough position because it didn't outself the PS3 slim? Also you downplay 2nd in the handheld market like it's no great feat. The xbox was tied for 3rd with the GC in its first outing and it only built on that. Name one other company who fought Nintendo as much in the handheld. NOONE.

Did ANYONE read the article?

Heck noone bothered to mention that the link in the first post is WRONG so I'm guessing noone read the numbers then.

The psp has a sales INCREASE of 195% from the previous week and only got beat by the DSi by about 2100 units.

Noone mentiones that the DSi sales DECREASED from the previous week by 16%!

You guys are incredible...INCREDIBLY LAME and myopic.

This is not bad news for the psp in anyway.

They all have 8 spes but one is disabled by default. I think that was for getting the most out of the wafers in that a cell with a defective spe could still be used for a ps3.

Ok thanks for the info! I thought I was getting a better deal in going with a used 80GB vs a 60 GB in terms of heat given off. I guess YLOD can strike me just as easily.

From the time I saw Kratos rip off a horn and stab an enemy with its own horn I only had one thing to do in life...PLAY GOW3

From the time I saw Kratos gut an enemy and entrails spewed out and remained on the screen I only had one more thing to do in life...PLAY GOW3

of course GT5 with a proper damage system would be a nice bonus.

The components thing I'm not disputing. The cpu die size has changed however. First ps3s (20 GB and 60 Gb) used a Cell processor on a 90nm die that gives off ALOT of heat which some people suspect is responsible for the YLOD. The slim is using a 45nm Cell cpu so it runs alot cooler. In between that is 65 nm but I don't know if the 4usb 80GB PS3 is using 65 or 90...

[QUOTE="Kingmohd84"]Reason that I do not want a ps2 is simple, I do not need all the extra hardware, wires, and plugs. If I have a Wii, I really do not wish to add a gamecube next to it, its just so much more efficient this way. And it makes a lot of sense to put a ps2 support in ps3, specially that they did it early on.jimm895
If you want BC support you need to shop around for a used 20, 60 or early 80 gig PS3 and be willing to pay the asking price even if it's more than the current price of the new PS3's. These kind of threads make me feel so much better about spending the money early and get the first of the 60 gig systems.

^this

However you don't have to pay really high prices. I got mine used from GameFunk for 265. I see the price has now gone back up. Anyways mine was listed as "Very Good" but when I got it there were no scratches. The thing looked new. I think you should hang around Amazon and look at the various bundles and skus for a deal.

Try not to buy one brand new for a ridiculous price as there really are some unscrupulous dealers out there triple and double charging for these units. A used unit that has been treated well should suffice. I bought the motorstorm one as it was cheap and had BC. I really wanted the MGS4 bundle but those are generally more expensive and usually the dealers sell it WITHOUT the game for more than the motorstorm bundle.

Ebay is so so. They usually fall within the 300-350 price range for 60 GB units.
