remmbermytitans Blog

Ugh!!

Before this blog gets underway, I'd like to say, I'm back! Summer's over, school's back in session, and I'll be spending a lot more time on my computer now!

Now that that's out of the way... UGH! Seriously. That's all I can say about this year. If you've been keeping track of my blogs, you'll know that this year has been rather, lame, to say the least. These last few days have been especially lame. First of all, since the beginning of this year, the Titans have not won a single game. The divisional playoff game earlier in January, the season opener, and today's game, have all been a loss by three points. UGH!

Secondly. The job I had, is no longer a job. It was more of a temporary position and it exists no more. Thankfully, I still have enough money saved up to pay for at least another month of car insurance. I've been looking around for a job, but since I live in California, the unemployment rate is ridiculously high, and jobs are really hard to find. UGH!

Personally, I'm ready for this year to be over. 2009 has had nothing memorable happen, and has been a complete and utter waste of time. I hope that in 2010, things start to pick up where they left off in 2008.

What a month August has been!

Wow. So good things are finally hapening! First off, I started a part-time job! It's paying $12/hr and I work 4 to 5 hours a day, so it's not too terrible. Secondly, because I got a job, I can begin to pay for my car insurance, which means I can start to drive again! These two things are providing some well needed cash, (I honestly have no idea how I survive on tutoring income) and some well deserved freedom. As awesome as this would have been on it's own, the good times just keep on rolling! Football is back! Granted, it's only preseason play, but hey, football is football and I'm glad it's back.

To everyone reading this, I've not left GameSpot, I've just been very very busy lately, swamped with school, work, and friends. I hope that as I get used to this new schedule, I'll be able to assign some of my free time to GameSpot! I hope that everyone is enjoying their last few weeks of summer!

R.I.P. Steve McNair (1973-2009)

Wow. This was a shocker. Steve McNair, former quarterback to the Tennessee Titans (and Baltimore Ravens), has been murdered. He was found dead in his condo, with a gunshot to the head. What a sad day for all Tennessee Titans fans around the country and around the world. He will be missed.

As sad as this is, I hope that all of you enjoy your 4th of July!

R.I.P. Steve McNair.

Alright, I survived the first half of 2009.

It's July. Half of 2009 is over and done with and looking back, it was one hell of a rough ride. It may have been the most unluckiest half of a year, in my life. I lost my car insurance, lost my girlfriend, lost thirty pounds (due to an ulcer), lost my job, my football team loses in their first playoff game, didn't do well in school, etc. Just about every aspect of my life suffered in some way.

But hey, I believe the storm has passed, and the light of the end of the tunnel is near. My goals for the second half of 2009 are basically to get back on top of things, and get back to the way things were at the end of 2008. A job, girlfriend, keep the weight off, but get rid of the ulcer, have my team dominate this season, and kick ass in school. Of course, I have to take things one at a time, and I've got about six months to do it, but I'm confident that I can!

The first six months are gone, and another six are still on their way. And at the halfway mark, I believe that what has happened to me happened for a reason, and that at the end of all this, I'll become a better person for it. Until then, I just got to weather the storm and get back on my feet. Here's to a much better half of 2009!

Summer of Gaming!

Yeah, I've been playing a lot of games in the first three weeks of summer. I recently downloaded Mass Effect off Steam and am liking it so far. I'm not very far into the game, but BioWare has a tendency to make great games and I'm sure they'll deliver with this game as well. Also on my list, is a second run through of No More Heroes. I beat it once before, but I loved the game so much that I decided to play it once more to keep me satisfied until No More Heroes 2 comes out. Of course, I'm still playing Burnout Paradise, Team Fortress 2, World of Goo and Left4Dead, so no matter what I've got going on, I've got a game to play.

While browsing around the Steam store earlier today, I discovered Smashball. It's a pretty cool sports game, mixed with elements of football, soccer, and basketball, but with guns. If you've got Half-Life 2, you can get the mod for free. :)

Finally, I recently purchased a new CPU heatsink/fan and I am loving it. My idle temperatures on a hot sunny day in California were in the mid 40's. And even thinking of playing a PC game would send my CPU temperatures skyrocketting into the high 50s. Now, idle temperatures are in the low 30's and games are running in the low 40s. A temperature difference of 10+ degrees! Totally worth the $30 I spent. :)

That's all for now folks, time to continue playing, if you ever want to play with me, send me a Steam friend request:
