it was early 90's. i was around 11 and did not have a nintendo system. i had played that game on my cousin's gameboy but i was not able to progress a lot since we did not visit my uncle's house a lot.

now iam 29 and whenever i hear zelda's music i turn back to those days. that s the reason why i want to play in grayscale.

For instance: Release of Baldur's Gate II (2000)

In Might & Magic games, you really feel that you are progressing when you obtain fly, lloyd's beacon, town portal spells. When you obtain fireball, instantly kiiling bunch of enemies becomes easier.

any games with similar or better progression feelings?

10-20 hours. It might be a burden to replay games with gameplay longer than 20 hours.
