[QUOTE="The_Streets"][QUOTE="DarkPhoenix64"][QUOTE="The_Streets"]Can i just say one more thing please? Nintendo defenders often say "cute graphics don't automaticaly equal kiddy". I agree. i love the Toy Story films. Which is just the point. Maybe if Nintendo aspired to the level of Toy Story, games like mario might actually start being interesting. Why not give a Mario game a PLOT. With characters. and levels that have specific relevance to the story. And that are completed in a specific order. If nintendo made a toy story style Mario game, it would be SO much more appealing to people like me. After all, they gave Zelda: Oot an epic plot and look how it turned out. Zelda isn't gorey. It's like an old English fairytale. But its story of knights and magic and artifcats and evil and heroes and quaint towns is just so CAPTIVATING. It's one of the most beautiful games that I have ever played. Make more games like this and nintendo will appeal to people like me. I dont like collecting power Stars just, just 'because'. It's the 'rules' of the 'game'. It's how you win. Give me more than just a game. Give me an interactive Pixar movie with the next Mario and then we'll see how popular it turns out to be.....TargetDog
You manners are respectable, i'll stop bashing you now. One thing though. you are just targetting one single game. Mario 64 is one of the best games ever made. Nobody can deny that. Calling it garbage is sheer ignorance. The story may have not been the best, and maybe that is what you are targetting, but mario wasn't about the Immersive story. What won every1 over was the absolutely fantastic gameplay.
Mario games aren't played for the storyline anyway. I'm getting the impression that you are targetting mario games only, and generalising it to all nintendo games. That is where your arguement breaksdown i think. If you want to play a game with a really good storyline then play something else, mario isn't for you. There are plenty of other games out there. Maybe no for the GC because of its lack of games, but the ones that are there are good e.g MP1&2, zelda WW/TP, splinter cell series, tales of symphonia, baten kaitos, paper mario, resident evil 4. all great games with great storylines.
Mario should stay as it is. Mario is not about being a secret agent, or going all kung fu and taking revenge on an enemy being he as dishonoured your family by throwing a custard pie at luigi. Mario is mario, a funny guy who every1 knows and loves, and he is there purely for gameplay.
I disagree with your last point about Mario. I think a Toy Story or Incredibles style makeoevr would do him the world of good. You play his games, you collect some stars and then eventually it's like *yawn*. There's no incentive to keep going. Once you've seen one star, you've seen em all. With games like halo, on the other hand, I feel compelled to keep playing because I just HAVE to see what happens next in the story. Mario could give us a really good Pixar style interactive cartoon. Now that would be interesitngI don't understand why everyone liked Halo's story. i barely even noticed it when i was playing it.
^Same here. Speaking of which, can anyone explain the story to me?
