@ccgod:

Exactly, publishers want their money, publishers want a product on the shelves earning money and not some endlessly prolonged project bloating beyond repair eating away cash like Twinkies because the cash runs out and when it does if you haven't got a product in a sellable state you can't make any money off it. Then you go bankrupt. Just like these guys are going to.

Every time this project expands it gets more expensive, with everything added it takes more people longer to work on it, it has passed the event horizon and is still nowhere near a sellable product.

It's a shame but it's true, this game is doomed.

@Doomerang:

Just Google Star Citizen unfulfilled promises, then read to your hearts content.

An internal survey on their own website revealed 25% of backers would be interested in a refund. Why do you think they settle refunds out of court, they know that a court order would open the flood gates to refunds they couldn't possibly pay back without facing banckrupcy.

Asking for an "advance" because "they're good for it" on a crowdfunded project should be sending out very large red flashing warning signs to anyone stupid enough to invest.

You think they're going to admit they have spent all the money and have a barely playable mess of modules to show for it, again opening the floodgates to court cases and refunds and finally bankrupting themselves, nope they're going to make some lame excuse as seen.

You know what the interest rates on loans are like, money for nothing just for an "advance"! Don't make me laugh, they're are in deep deep trouble and the only people who will really pay are their "investors" oops I mean funders.

It was out of stock for pre-order in UK pretty much within an hour.

This is going to be impossible to get, especially with Star Fox 2 on it.

Damn you Nintendo and your shinies.

What a bloated swollen mess this game has turned into. It's the video game equivalent of a hoarder, constantly adding rusty broken crap to their collection, in their head to fix up and clean but never getting round to it before the next rusty trinket is added.

In the end this game will be so broken, boring and unfinished that it will be barely passable as a game at all. Like one of those ridiculously accurate simulations that forgets wholesale that video games are supposed to be fun.

I'm sure there will be some people who enjoy this kinda thing but even Elite became dangerously (pun intended) close to becoming to slavishly simlike to be much actual fun.

My advice to all the backers, start kicking off and demanding your money back for unfulfilled promises before it's too late. As long as money is being pumped into this game it will never be finished and the longer it's developed the harder it will be to fix.

This is a prime example of why Movies and Video Games have deadlines and budgets. This game will bankrupt the devs eventually you watch.

@risingdawn:

I take my final comment back, just watched the video and not only does it sound EXACTLY like a complete Monster Hunter rip-off it also looks terrible.

Guys go for Toukiden instead, that's how you do the genre differently, not this trash.

This article is gold.

First it states there are numerous differences between this and Monster Hunter and highlights the F2P model.

So far so good.

Then it describes Monster Hunters range of weaponry, Monster Hunters armor skills, Monster Hunters Gunlance weapon, Monster Hunters Hunting Horn, Monster Hunters limited usage support consumables, Monster Hunters Owl like beast Malfestio and Malfestios' charging swoop attack before finishing with Monster Hunters dodge roll and attack mechanic.

Yup, doesn't sound like Monster Hunter at all....

Still interested in this despite the terrible article though, I love this genre.

Stick a dedicated warehouse decked out with a specific set and this AR and you're suddenly alot closer to a Star Trek style holo deck.

I actually think this is far more exciting than VR tbh, not only in praticle daily application but for gaming too.

Laser Quest/paintball style AR arcades would be awesome, it might not have the same home gaming application of VR but I could see this becoming an almost trip to the cinema type experience or a day in the arcades like the 90's.
