Hmm....I guess I'm alive!

Boy oh boy it's been a while! I haven't posted a new blog since 2009 =O I guess I've gone trough a lurker phase and I'm begging to surface again, slowly tho'.

So yeah, I'm alive, good health and migrated almost completely to gaming on the PC XD but more on that later!

Long time no blog! (Nobody will care tho')

Herro Gamespot! It's been a very LARGE time since I even considered posting a new entry in this godforsaken blog! Mainly because it's so much going on in my life that I :

a) Barely have the time OR patience to post in here.
b) Some of the stuff happening are hella complicated and long to explain.
c) I am lazy =P

So yeah I will try to be active as I once where since my Freshman year is almost over (mind you it didn't went as well as I excepted but yeah...). It was a year full of new experiences and lots of PC gaming and next to none PS3 gaming! Yes my GS peeps I haven't even PLAYED Uncharted 2! I am dying to plug my PS3 to my glorious HDTV and game away to the marvels PS3 has right now!

I intend to bring some of my "signature" blogs like "Amazing Trailers" and the ocassional Signature I do in photoshop, I promise...

Feel free to ask anything or tell me anything you feel it's worth it, I will respond!

Until next time fellow GSers!

Summer (and summer parties), University, New house. Life Update.

Long time no freaking blog eh? It's been a gigantic while and I apologize...wait no I don't? It's not like you guys are my fans or something! Or is it!?...

Well anyways, my summer ways a fairly positive one (aside from the girl I told you guys about in the last blog...and that wasn't completely negative too. But that's another blog). I meet buttloads of new people (mostly girls yes), 99% of them older and all of them studying in college. So in the people department my summer was one of the best.

And you guys are asking "Roger, you resilient stud, how did you meet so much people?!". Quite simple actually. Parties.

The idea was simple. To threw the best goddamn set of parties this city as ever seen. How was I going to do that, with a low budget? Again simple. My parents fortunately went on vacation for 2 weeks and I was felt with the house all for myself.

Being my house a kick ass one (with pool, a terrace with a view to the beach, laidback neighbours and a good sound isolation), combined with me knowing some people that had DJ skills and having the house to myself, Roger Summer Sessions were born! (RSS for short).

Then a problem appeared. A party without alcohol (and illicit substances) isn't a party. Easy too. BYOA (Bring your own alcohol) was implemented. Beer was not allowed as it was to weak. And let me tell you, it worked, perfectly. There was booze EVERYWHERE!

The parties (three in total) were a success. Everyone had fun, everyone got drunk and everyone is asking for more parties next year. Surprisingly enough there wasn't many damage to the house (except the complete mess the house was after every party), maybe because I was smart enough to move all of the freaking furniture, carpets, etc to a room that nobody went! So I am 100% sure there will be more RSS next year, and one of the parties will be in the middle of nowhere (already found a good place :P).

For the ones asking, there was around 35 people in the parties. Not because there wasn't more, but because I didn't want anymore, due to the cops and illegal stuff (no underaged drinking tho').

Enough about summer and more ABOUT FREAKING UNIVERSITY!! I freaking got in where I wanted!! Meaning? In 5 years I will be fully apt to develop video ****** games! OH YEAH!!!! I will be moving TOMORROW to Lisbon (capital) to an apartment with a friend of mine. It's going to be awesome! My dream of working in Naughty Dog gets closer every day :D

The apartment is located in a very good place of the city, it's near my university (I can walk there!), it has an hospital in the next street, 2 malls nearby , cinemas, a Cultural center with exhibits, shows and more every day and my cousins live nearby too!

Downside? No more fooling around like I did in High School, but when I do fool around it's going to be 20 time more hardcore! No more momma's food and easy life. I have no problems with leaving friends behind, because most of them are going to the same city and the ones that aren't....are going next year XD

In the gaming department...I have been playing Prototype and Bionic Commando in my PC and Infamous on PS3.

I foresee big spending this fall and winter, with the amount of games I want. So many games and so little time...damn :(

It's my Birthday!

Yap. I am 18 now! That means I can go to jail, drive, buy porn and weapons.

Quick update on my life. I swear to god I will write a full-fledged blog about everything!

I am working taking care of kids in a municipal project.

Going to the beach everyday.

I passes year so that means I am going to University.

Gaming Less because.....

I am in love.

Discuss :P

e3 impressions blog and Uncharted 2 beta.

Another e3 as past and the big 3 spoken (some better than others). My thought are :

Microsoft - Good enough Conference. They kept referring to PS/360 games has exclusive, but meh, because I will laugh in 360 face when I buy it for PC. Conviction and Alan Wake sparked my interested enough for me to consider a buy( Not sure if Conviction will hit PCs).

A MGS was announced for 360, PS3 and PC as we ALL know. This is isn't that big of a blow as SW is saying it is. We get to play the game, the game isn't made my Kojima (he said it will be made by the new blood from kojima Productions and the he won't be involved), and it isn't in the main storyline of Snake.

Then we get to what was consider the High Point of MS conference : Project Natal. I wasn't impressed by what they showed in the conference, I was impressed by the potential that thing has. Not the motion sensing part because, IMO that was meh. I don't see myself with my arms and legs flailing around the room like in that fighting game from the trailer.

I was impressed by the AI behind Mylo (The Pedophiles Dream). That kind of AI, combined with voice recognition software, will be very good with game like fallout. Instead of selecting the line of speech you want, you will ask whatever you want (that and some motion sensing will make games much more interesting).

Now, I doubt MS will follow that route, simply because the casual route is much more appealing, easy and more profitable. If they follow the Hardcore appealing route...kudos to them I am getting a 360.

My prediction is this : MS indeed will be called a pioneer in this kind of AI (not int he motion camera because, lets be fair here, Eyetoy was doing it in PS2 and it had voice recognition too. Ps3 has a camera that can do similar things. The problem is that this software was not supported.), but by the time MS figures out that Hardcore players matter, all the other companies will be doing it too. So I thing Natal won't bring much in the near future.

Nintendo - Aside from some good DS and Wii games....snorefest, not to mention dumbass hardware like that Vitality crap.

Nintendo needs to feed it's gigantic ego so they like to talk alot about sales and how they have the whole thing under control and how much the rock with casuals and hardcore players....

Wii fit plus? with just some more exercises extra? That justifies a full game price tag? Srsly... go **** yourselves. And the Wii motion plus is what the Wiimote should have been FROM THE START!

But not all was bad, they announced Golden Sun, KH and FF for DS and Super Mario Galaxy 1.5...I mean 2 and Metroid : Other M....the rest of the games were just more mario. This might be good for some people, but to me? No thanks.

Sony - I came to the conclusion that Sony and MS are the ones that know how to do an appealing conference.

I was impressed the second the god damn initial trailer was aired. Now that's what get people excited. Right after that what did they do? Showed games, without delays, crappy numbers or superficial corporal bullcrap.

As expected Uncharted 2 got more applause than all the applause combined for the other 2 conferences. I had to change Pants twice. MAG seemed like a good enough game for me to buy and play with friends.

Then we get to the PSP... so many games were showed for PSP...the PSP go was announced... They called some numbers (which is necessary after all). I guess this is a very good year for PSP and I might have to get one after all. The amount of games that were showed impressed me. The Kojima came to the stage and Peace Walker was announced. I guess this was the part were 360 fans got kicked in the groin : Kojima stated and REstated that this is a true MGS game and this game he will be DEEPLY involved with it, unlike the other MGS. So he pretty much said that 360 won't be getting a true MGS game... IMO I think this is kinda well...unfair but what can I do?

The we get to the PS3 Motion controller.... I have to admit I was skeptical towards it...after all I want PS3 not Wii with pretty graphics. But then they showed how it works and I guess I already have a PSeye so half the equipment I is in my possession.
I remained skeptical, but then the tech demos were showed and the damn thing actually worked. I think that what made me less skeptical about it was the TYPE of tech demos they showed. They actually showed tech demos that could easily be transformed in games. The arch segment was MUCH better than the Wii's and the sword play was indeed much, OH SO MUCH more precise then the Wii's. I mean the buy was adjusting the target's head with the tip of his sword...he actually did it! And he could use a god damn shield!!

What made me "like" this motion controller was very simple : the tech demos they presented showed that they were aiming the controller to a more "I want to slash bodies with high details" audience. And that makes me tingly inside. I don't to jump across the room to smack balls. I want to separate heads from bodies with dynamic cutting!

Then we were showed even more games. To keep it short I will right further down what games I liked the most.

I liked the Sony conference more because they showed more games than all the others. After all, games is what matter. Although MS conference was CLOSE second.... so close I give kudos for MS for Project Natal. I really hope they don't screw it up.

So this years e3 was AWESOME! Not only the the big 3 conferences but the GS live stage show was also very good. I was very happy with the amounts of quality games that were showed.

Games that made me change my pants :

* God of War III
* Assassin's Creed II
* Uncharted 2
* The Last Guardian
* M.A.G: Massive Action Game
* Ratchet & Clank: A Crack in Time
* PixelJunk Shooter
* Star Wars: The Old Republic (twice actually)
* Army of Two: The 40th Day
* Borderlands
* DJ Hero

Uncharted 2 beta :AWESOME!!! I will write a more detailed blog when the beta ends or when I feel like it. For now all I can say is that it's a very nice change of pace from all the other online games. It's fast but not, frenetically fast and using tactics and cover is mandatory or you will die in 5 seconds if you are in the open.

It's been a while...

It's been a BIG while, but I'm still alive.

1st of all I would like to apologize for my absence ( I will explain why I have been away from GS) and 2nd....there's no second.

I have several reasons why I have been "missing", all of them pretty good excuses not to come here.

1st - World of Warcraft.

Yes I started playing it and I like it. Why I started? Bunch of friends the used to play it felt like it and invited a bunch of people and I was one of the 1st to be invited. We are quite a big bunch and we all know each other.
To my surprise, I actually like WoW. All this years I always thought it was crap and a waste of time (well it is a waste of time), but it's good enough to get me addicted. Right now I'm reducing the amount of time I spend playing WoW, so that means more time in GS.

2nd - The most hardcore and extreme Easter vacation EVER.

10 days of the 18 days of the vacation where spent in Spain in a city we Portuguese call, "The Portuguese Capital of Booze". Lloret de Mar is a city ,not much bigger than mine, where once a year thousands of Portuguese students travel by bus to there and get drunk and high.

I was one of those students, and, just like the flyer said, craziest 10 days of my live. Bests discos ever.

Then when I returned....I kept doing the same things, but now in my home town... So there was no time for GS.

3rd - Killzone 2.

Awesome game and I wish I payed more attention to it sooner. Online is pretty good. Very good actually.

It's an engaging game and it sure as hell lives up to the hype!

4th - Poker.

Now I stay in school after ****to play Poker.... pretty good at it.

5th - GS will always be GS.

I am old around here, and there isn't anything new to make me excited to come here. Sure I still like it here but I don't have that...urge to come here anymore. But don't worry I'm still here, and probably will be for a long time.

So as you can see, I had very good excuses not to show up here. But that's over now, I will, slowly, return to my posting habits.

So what the hell happened here while I was gone?

PS3 is back.

Finally!!....yes....now back to The Witcher. Awesome game.

Not much to write about..except the awesomeness of The Witcher. Gotta love that game. Because of it I, probably, will only play my PS3 again when I have KZ2.

Anyways, Witcher is calling for me!

*Breaths* Back from the dead and with me I have a NEW PC!!

HELL YEAH!! I have a NEW PC!...for about 1 week :P

So this is a PC 100% built by me...if I am not mistaken it was the 1st PC I ever built and it went splendid!

So Here are the Specs :

  • Asus M3A78-T AMD790GX SKAM2
  • AMD Athlon 64BIT X2 DUAL-CORE 7750+
  • Sapphire Ati HD4870 512MB DDR5
  • Nox Coolbay
  • Kingston DDR2 HyperX 2x1024MB 1066MHz
  • Nox Urano 700w Sli PFC 14cm
  • Maxtor 500GB Sata II 32MB
  • Total price : 621€

I went for a AMD, don't ask me why I just prefer them. I was going for a 9800GTX+ but after reading some stuff and comparing specs with the HD4870....4870 came on top, not to mention I bought it with a 40% discount!! So it was a no brainer.

I am really happy with the PC and it's performance, so it really paid off. I haven't took any pictures...but here's how the box looks...kinda.

Next time I will post it some pictures!

Also, I bought Left 4 Dead and I do not regret it!

So waddayathink?

Haven't been moderated for a while....And new PC.

So that means my level is rising, hence I am level 36....I swear, Level 35 took more time than 20....

In other news, I just finished ordering all of the PC parts. Finally!! A GAMING RIG! WOW!
I will post the specs and pictures later :P

COD:WAW and PoP review will be up whenever I want XD
