I have the exact same problem also. I also doubt it's the tv, because, if it was, the controller would still show up as controller 1, and nothing would come up on the tv. However, when the controller doesn't connect, it seems obvious that it's the xbox's fault. I am also on my second unit.

Just run like mad at some enemies...it doesn't matter if you die after you kill the 3 enemies.

No, however, difficulty changes on the first level, Eden Prime, do not effect achievemets. Anything after that and you get the achievement for the lowest difficulty setting you had the game on.

I beat COD 4 on hardcore, and I've just started going through it on veteran. I noticed that at the bottom of the cheat screen it says that you can't get achievements with cheats enabled. Of course, this makes sense for things like slomo and unlimited ammo, but how about the cheats that simply effect the visuals of the game, like the black and white cheat. Do they prevent you for getting achievements too?

Like I said, it doesn't matter, even an entirely new character can still help with the achievement.

It doesn't matter what character or what playthrough you're on; all kills count. Also, you can reload saves to get achievements, it all counts. On the second question, I don't know which class you would personally enjoy most, but as far as easyness goes, probably a soldier. If you max out your various talents that give you boosts to your health. You can become a freaking juggernaut at a high enough level. Personally I find the soldier less enjoyable, without any cool biotics or tech mines, but to each his own.
