With the new Wii game Super Smash Bros. Brawl now out it got me to thinking how much I enjoyed playing past games in that series. So I decided to revisit Super Smash Bros. Melee for the Gamecube. I dusted off my Gamecube which I haven't played in about four years and once again got addicted to this game. So I've decided to list some of my favorite characters to play as from this great game.
Link

When playing this game I tend to favor swordsmen so of course Link would be on the list. He has a large variety of moves like throwing bombs and shooting arrows and of course swinging his sword. Link is great since he has that well known move where he swings his sword in a complete circle. This is great for when you have a bunch of other characters ganging up on you all at once.
Marth

Marth is another swordsmen, but he is much quicker than Link. He is one of the two characters in this game from the Fire Emblem series which is a strategy game similar to the GBA game Advance Wars.
Roy

Roy is also from the Fire Emblem series, and I think he's better in the game than Marth. He has the charge up move for his sword and also the move where he swings his sword upwards. Both these moves do more damage than similar ones that Marth has.
Falco and Fox

The reason I list these two characters together is because they basically have the same exact moves. Both of them are known for being very fast and agile. The only downside is that they're both fairly light in weight so they can't sustain as much damage as others. On the positive side with their speed they can easily get a lot of moves in before an opponent can counter.
Samus

One of the best moves Samus has is when she charges up that energy ball and can fire it. In the original game her move when she would jump and spin around to trap her opponent was much more effective than in the sequel.
Ness

Even though Ness isn't as strong as he was in the original game, he's still one of my favorite characters. He has the great smash attack with his bat, and his PK thunder is great as a long range attack.
After hooking up my Gamecube again I also revisited the Super Monkey Ball games. These games involve a monkey in a ball who you have to guide through different levels without letting the ball roll off the course. The courses can get very difficult with timing playing a crucial part in your victory. It was also great to see that Sega still had games coming out even though they no longer made systems.

Games I'd like to get:
Even though the Gamecube no longer makes new games I think there are still some games I'd consider buying used. The last Gamecube title I got was back in 2003, so there are a lot of titles I missed out on. And getting a new system like the Wii isn't exactly cheap.
Timesplitters 2

This is a first person shooter that is similar to Goldeneye since it has similar gameplay and even some of the same guns. Some of the members from the original Goldeneye team worked on this game.
Killer 7

This was a much needed mature rated game in the Gamecube library. It was also very original and had lots of violence and gore.
Tales of Symphonia

I'm a big fan of RPG's and this was one of few that was available for the system.
