[QUOTE="rooktook"]the LAW was founded under GOD believers! and? those god believers understood that not everyone shared the same beliefs, so they put measures in place to prevent personal religious views from interfering in legal matters (such as the separation of church and state)lol church and state? this would allow more state!!!!!!!! becuause religion would claim marriage is by GOD,, then we would have to go into a real church and state! where these people are not married by god BUT OF BY STATE, once they get around this then all the marrie.[QUOTE="Sword-Demon"] do you understand that america is not a theocracy? we don't base our laws on the views of religionSword-Demon

see, i have the complete opposite opinion. i believe that it IS different and should be treated as such. people in this politically correct society of ours can never seem to tell it like it is but rather dance around the truth because of people's different sensitivities and opinions. being gay IS different than being straight the same as being black is different than being white and being a man is different than being a woman. people are different but everyone should receive the same opportunities and rights. i feel civil unions would provide just that.
i also disagree with your statement that it would further the perception that being gay is wrong. people who are anti gay because of religious reasons or some other reason will never accept it regardless. however this demographic in much smaller than people that are anti gay marriage and feel like people will be much more accepting of civil unions with the same rights. if anything i think it would improve the outlook on gay people because the most controversy stems from the gay marriage debate.

I agree that being gay is different, just like being black or white. But the difference is that gay people are treated different. Black people used to be treated different, but now there is equality. People will always be treated different by different people, but gay people are treated differently nationwide by not being able to get married.
marriage is a title, simple as that. that title traditionally and religiously has been a title of commitment between one man and one woman. civil union is a different title, provided to a different circumstance, that would give all the same rights but would be different. i honestly feel that the main issue amongst gay partners is getting the same rights that straight partners enjoy. i'd be interested to see however, how many gay partners would be satisfied with a civil union like the one i described and how many would still push for gay marriage.
lol why do they fight for this title? for benifits? tax rights? why i think for money!!!!!! but like i think it is the PRIDE factor that gays fight for,,, marriage was under GOD before us if they let them have it what next?[QUOTE="rooktook"]what i dont understand is yes god said this,,,,, but when a person lives like this every second of there life commiting this SIN any by the way under god any sin is as wrong in his eyes, but what about the gays they have to live in sin all there moral life? for the siner they can not look at a nother woman or commit the sin that you say but when you are in love with your sin you pretty much live in sin all day every day till you die,, simple as that then you want the marraige bond! lol whay would you bring up sutch a subject? do you understand that america is not a theocracy? we don't base our laws on the views of religionthe LAW was founded under GOD believers![QUOTE="imetamonster"]

[QUOTE="rooktook"]why? we believe in what we are!!!!!!!!!! thats the moral fabric of this country! when you let any one and every one in you lose your morals! I would be willing to bet alot, that there is a much larger percentage of religious folks in prison compared to gay folks in prison. Gays tend to be better educated, less violent and wealthier than the religious population from what ive seen. So i dont think morality factors into the equation much. Unless the only benchmark for morality is sexual preference.i agreeeeeee,[QUOTE="imetamonster"]
I cant believe how people can say things like this.
Being gay is related to those things?

No less than "telling fibs," looking lustfully at a woman, or being a liar. There are none without sin and it is not my desire to pick on homosexuals. Now do not get me wrong, I am not saying that homosexuality is always a choice. There certainly are people who simply have those inclinations. However, having attractions does not necessitate that it is morally right.[QUOTE="mindstorm"][QUOTE="imetamonster"]

Yeah me too.
thts why im pro gay marriage
yea thats why i can vote aginst it,,lollol why should i feel you owe somthing? you just have to go threw trials like many have done to get there rights,,, but in gays it strikes a moral cord that they will prolly have too fight for a long time before they see gay marriage[QUOTE="rooktook"]
[QUOTE="Shadow4020"]
You think that because the country "allows" people to be gay that they owe something?
That is just wrong.
Shadow4020
And what trials would those be?
wow ,[QUOTE="mindstorm"]Personally I am not under the belief that same-sex marriage is a matter of equal rights, but rather, attempting to make what has been considered socially wrong to be socially right. This is a moral issue, not a rights issue. That said, it is my desire that same-sex marriage, pornography, and, where not already, prostitution to all be illegal. However, my own personal ambition is not to force my morality upon others (with certain exceptions such as being against murder, prostitution, necrophilia, slavery, etc.) but to share my savior. Through one's love of Christ such things are to done away with, not solely by laws and governmental means. In other words, my ultimate desire is for people to know Jesus, not to force a specific moral code (though that would be the eventual conclusion, just not necessarily the goal).imetamonster
