Funny lately, I have been getting the same thing. Even on games that are brand new. I have to put a disc in up to five time, before it will read it. I take the discs out and look at them, crystal clear put it back in, take it out, put it back in. It is getting annoying, I feel your pain.

Not the best way to stop fanboys, but a decent way to create a flame. I hope you are not talking about me as I just bought a ps3, and am planning on enjoying it. Not all of your statements are untrue as well, as you complain about other's posts being not so.
I have to say it is a very well written post, but starting out with cynical insults leave a sour taste for readers who do no agree 100% with your post.
I just bought a ps3 yesterday, I sold my Wii. The only factor important to me was the blu-ray. Other than everything else was equal, less than or not significant compared to the 360.
Console tends to be cheaper, plus used games are easy to find, and renting the perfect option more me is available. But PC's the the most customizable and powerful gaming units. But the power comes with cost, going up exponentially with performance. I used to be a strict PC gamer, but as my time and money has become tighter, I have switched to consoles mainly because of the ease. I miss the old mouse and keyboard for FPS's though, it is still the best way to go.
Metal Gear Solid 4 is going to use a full 50 gig BluRay disk...and I'm not sure how. Games do not need more than 9 gig, its just crazy if they do. And even then, would 2 discs kill you?
BluRay is nice, but honeslty games should NOT need that storage for a very long time. DVD9 is more than enough.

Yep, Uncompressed audio and video are the biggest killers of space. Not usually the games itself.
