On principle alone, I don't need to play this with all the other offerings that are out there. We need to send a message when a game is this poorly developed. It's embarrassing.
@dlCHIEF58: Great point.. actually I've seen some reasonable speculation that it might just boil down to doing a modern online multiplayer would require a rewrite of code which neither company probably wanted to invest in the game.
So like you said, the Nintendo online is multiplayer because of the emulator, but still has split screen, which a lot of people will hate in the current day anyway.
@Barighm: That's interesting and I wasn't aware you had done that.
As far as coming through here from time to time, GS is also one of the stops on my gaming/entertainment "news tour" just like yourself. They are usually decent to good when it comes to "news" but the opinion based stuff is almost always bad.
Reading the comments and seeing the reactions to them, is it's own thing at times to be sure.
@dabear: More like a little nonsensical, but it's now the norm here for anything opinion based and not just a news item. Reviews have been a joke for a while unfortuantely.
I appreciate the sentiment of keeping it's authenticity and such, but this just limits the accessibility of it and it's chance for success, regardless of how we feel about people not liking subtitles or foreign language films as much.
There's a reason why English spoken films are more popular/successful. That doesn't speak to their quality or authenticity, it's just a fact.
The show/movie they site as examples are outliers, and Squid Game had a great English dub that I'm sure was used by many so that doesn't really track.
@Pyrosa: Not to mention going to 2023 doesn't assure an awards sweep anyway. There are a metric ton of games coming out next year and people might be less "wowed" by a sequel, than they were with the original reboot GoW 2018.
There are already some unreasonable fans complaining about it looking too much like DLC from the trailers. I don't agree but those sentiments might seep into general thoughts when compared to new IP that might garner praise next year.
I think we need to prepare ourselves that Ragnarok will be delayed into 2023. It's happened to almost every game the last year and a half.
I hope it comes out this year and that it's ready. Also that it doesn't cost the devs crunching unreasonably just to release it this year. Release it when it's ready and with respect to the devs.
