"That absence just further deepens the questions about what will be shown at Xbox."
Oh I don't know.. perhaps the other 20ish games that they have in different stages of development. I can think of at least 5-8 coming out in the next 18 months that they can feature besides those two games. That's not even counting any MS Publishing deals or Game Pass surprises from third parties.
The truth is they probably needed to cut some things out if they want to keep it around 90 minutes.
@HAWK9600: Yeah be it far from me to ever step on anyone else's joy--so whoever this appeals to, have at it--but this is not the type of gaming I engage with. With that said it's very intriguing to follow from afar. The number of IP Epic continues to include is fascinating.
It also baffles me that the gaming industry seems to get the wrong lessons from Fortnite and the few "live service multiplayer" games that are successful. Instead of chasing their success because they think they can be the "next big thing" what they should be learning is that there's only room for a handful of successful games in the genre at any one time.
It requires a lot of capital to pull something like this off. It also requires a lot of players putting in constant engagement for it to succeed, and there are only so many players out there that want to play this type of game, which also applies to all genres in gaming. However non-live service games that don't require constant engagement, content, or dedicated servers, can sell perpetually.
Live Service will always have a place in gaming to be sure, but it's not going to replace existing genres like so many publishers try to position it as the future of gaming.
I think that there were some moments to like throughout the 2 episodes, but I just can't make peace with bringing back these OG revered iconic characters, and then being so careless with certain story elements or at times filming/editing of certain scenes like a freshman film student.
With so many allegedly talented people working on this I can't fathom how some of this made it through to a final draft or after watching dailies.
I won't get into spoilers, but the disservice done to fans and these characters is getting as bad as the sequel trilogy, and that's saying something.
This article pretty much confirms what I'm hearing elsewhere. That this game is going to be better than what they initially showed last year.
I don't know about the characters, but the gameplay, world, and customization from more recent previews and the opinions from those I trust way more than this person, give me cautious optimism that this could be a lot of fun to play.
There's nothing here that will make me upgrade my standard PS Plus sub.
It's not bad, but there's no big hook for me here when I've either played these games I like on the list, or that I'm not interested in the retro stuff with the premium tier.
Hopefully this just gets better and better over time, and I suspect it will. Game Pass was anemic at launch compared to what it is today.
On top of Pachter and Hoeg, there are quite a few legal and financial experts that are disputing the Bloomberg report so I'd take this with a grain of salt.
@eric7064: Personally, I'd like to see them make more games like the original LOU and Uncharted at it's best, not a remake and certainly not Factions.
If that's what you and others are into, then I'm geniuely happy for you and I hope it's a game that's good and you enjoy. I'll be playing GOW Ragnarok, and the next game from Insomniac, Sucker Punch, and others that I find vastly better. IMO
