@THCpariah @DiamondDM13 I agree. I have a PS Vita with the promise of Sony to play PS3 games using the Vita screen. Played Blazblue streaming from the PS3 over WiFi is brutal: low res, blurry and laggy!
@FojMohsin I agree. Reading some parts of the article seems like its an essay written up by a troll. Some of them are valid points such as the slow loading transitions of the GUI(Graphical User Interface) and some are dumb(complaining about USB 2.0).
However, the good news is that these 'issues' are very minor. Nintendo can easily improve transition speed and streamline their GUI with a few tweaks. The Wii U eShop allows background downloads now while you do other stuff. External hard drives are affordable and people who have spare hard drives can retrofit it with $10.00 USB 2.0 enclosures. Besides, people can ALWAYS buy physical discs.
I believe Nintendo should be able to address the restrictive Nintendo ID account since they did announce that they are working to expand them to smartphones and other systems(3Ds).
This is nothing compared to the console breaking RROD and ear-splitting DVD sound during gameplay on the XBOX 360.
Why complaining with USB 2.0? USB 2.0 is faster than any disc-based system available in any console compared to the already speedy Wii U's 22.5 MB/s and in contrast to 9 MB/s from the other consoles.
The effective thoroughput of a USB 2.0 is 35 MB/s( 280 MBit/s) which is fast and more than enough to run games.
Assuming that the next consoles from Microsoft and Sony are disc based systems, USB 2.0 is still more than adequate.
I remembered needing to buy a hard drive for my Xbox 360(20 Gb) in order to enjoy my gaming experience because the console sounds like a helicopter taking off playing off the DVD and to prevent overheating. All I can say is I feel ripped off paying $120.00 for a USED 120 GB just to prevent RROD and to enjoy a game without turning the sound full blast or putting on headphones.
Aside from the Wii U's various little issues for a less than 7 DAY OLD console, it is commendable that Nintendo addressed the proprietary storage issue and noise issue during gameplay.
@SolidTy @sacatash Well, I own a PS3 since 2008 and from what I see from videos on the Internet, PS Home and MiiVerse are completely different in terms of interactions within gaming communities of each console.
Thanks for your opinion though and I'm envious that you have two Wii U.
From what I have read and heard from people who have the system, MiiVerse is the Wii U killer app: its a game forum within a game console. Imagine a game forum that resides in your console that has its own community of gamers. Its like twitter, facebook, gamefaqs, game reviews, tech support, feedback, swap note rolled into one!
I love the device since I mainly use it for watching movies.
Here are the comments that I got from my friends that is hindering them from purchasing one:
-it is too expensive, I'd rather buy a PS3 or a PSP
-it lacks variety of games
-you need to buy at least 8 Gb memory cards to enjoy the system
-the file transfer system is atrocious!
-the potential ps1,psp games library is inhibited by poor compatibility and license problems(no patapon 3, cmon!!)
-the web browser is crap!
-back touch pad is a gimmick
-it's too big to be a portable!
Maybe Kaz Hirai should go to a video game store and survey people why they don't want to buy a Vita. He should be able to go back to the board room and fire people why they are giving him bad advice.
No matter what 'analysts' think, we cannot dispute the fact that after 6 long years, gamers are READY for another NEW CONSOLE and the WiiU and the 3DSXL will be the hottest consoles this holiday season.
No matter what 'analysts' think, we cannot dispute the fact that NINTENDO is first and foremost a gaming company. They know what they are doing.
No matter what 'analysts' think, we cannot dispute the fact that NINTENDO will have a headstart in the market to build a fanbase before Sony and Microsoft.
No matter what 'analysts' think, we cannot dispute the fact that NINTENDO franchises of Mario and Zelda SELLS!
No matter what 'analysts' think....Well who CARES WHAT THEY THINK!!!
PC/Video games are our hobby and we hope that the WiiU and Sony and Microsoft next consoles will have very good consoles this year and next year..
The Wii was a culmination of Nintendo's going with the 'Blue Ocean' strategy, opening up the console market for the casual market. Instead of going head-to-head with Sony and Microsoft in 2005-2006, Nintendo PURPOSELY CHOSE to not compete directly with them. Also, the Kinect and PS Move are proofs that the Nintendo's Wii success is not due to pure luck but evidences that Nintendo knows what their doing.
"I don’t get it," he said -Pachter
'I mean, somebody had an idea--'let's make the controller a tablet'--and there aren't many games that are going to take advantage of that."'-Pachter
And there lies the problem with Pachter's so-called 'analysis' skills and why he does not understand people, like you and me, who makes gaming a hobby.
Nintendo thinks 'out of the box', by being a video game innovator while making profits.
Nintendo does tons of market research and R and D and spend millions of dollars. Pachter implies that Nintendo put their tablet-controller together over the weekend on a whim. Yet, when Microsoft show their 'smart glass' technology, Pachter gleefully acknowledge it as an innovation.
