@nonserviumbta: Miles Morales is a next gen game set in an open world with full RAY TRACING and 4k assets. Showing "only old games" to demo quick resume means nothing. The more demanding the game the longer it takes to "quick resume".
So i can't wait to see how long it will take for the XSX to quick resume Cyberpunk 2077, instead of Alan Wake, if you get my meaning.
@nonserviumbta: https://youtu.be/Ko60txHEf3Q?t=280 8 Seconds to load doom eternal and Alen Wake, which are both old games and aren't very demanding when it comes to assets, and they don't have ray tracing. Humans Fall Flat loads in 3 seconds because, well, weak and has nothing to load to be honest.
Which means the time will vary depending the game.
Old games may take 3 seconds, and more detailed games will take a lot longer.
Now take the a last gen.. well in a couple of days, game like Doom. It takes 8 seconds to quick resume.
My point is it takes longer the more demanding the game is. Spider-Man: Miles Morales is a next gen game with full ray tracing open world, and it's 4k and highly detailed with a lot of assets.
That kind of game would take way longer to resume than say, Doom Eternal and Alan Wake.
12 seconds from start to game play for Spider-Man.
Get my point?
It means if you plan on playing high end AAA games, open world with ray tracing the quick resume won't be as fast as ps5 load times for new gen games.
I mean how long do you think it would take the ps5 to load Doom Eternal, once old games get a patch, which i think you will see in the day 1 patch. But, when it comes to next gen games is when i will be impressed by Series x. Showing old games loading in 8 seconds isn't a proper test, now is it?
LOOK AT THE TIME IT TAKES TO LOAD, AND THEN LOOK AT WHAT IT LOADED.
A full open world with full RAY TRACING. https://youtu.be/tzBECCzRqoY?t=2
@masonshoemocker: Jesus! i have to explain this to you.
All the load comparisons have been done with ps4 and Xbox one games.
MS has put a lot of time and money into BC and took the time to code in order to sell the only thing they are presenting, old games. Sony didn't do that. Sony focused on next gen games, that's why Demon's Souls and Miles Morales loads in under 12 seconds from the time you start loading the game and then load the "SAVE" and are in the world. Loading an open world that has RT is a lot of processing and shows just how fast games in the next gen will load. RT is very demanding and yet it takes 12 seconds. And yes, of course it will take you back to where you left off. Almost every game has since 2015.
I want to see XSX quick resume a game that is as demanding as Miles Morales with it's open world, density, and RAY TRACING. I bet it doesn't quick resume in 10 seconds lol
My point is the ps5 loads next gen games almost as fast as it takes to use quick resume. 12 SECONDS vs 10 SECONDS for quick resume. And they are new games with way more assets which makes it way more demanding, even if you were to put aside RAY TRACING.
PS5 is the quick resume.
I hope you enjoy the feature though. And have a nice day :)
Who knows Sony will most likely have a day one patch for old games to speed them up, since others think old games on new hardware is important.
@consolehaven: So Miles Morales loads in 12 sec. Next gen games will all load within that time. The only reason old games don't load as fast is Sony didn't code for it. The speeds you see with ps4 games on the ps5 hasn't been patched. Maybe a day 1 patch, but who cares they are old games.
@masonshoemocker: "Or how about when you're focusing on a single player game and a friend logs on and invites you to a multi-player game. You take a break, play some matches and return to the single player game. How about that?"
Or, how about when you're focusing on a single player game and a friend logs on and invites you to a mp game. you log out of Spider-Man: Miles Morales, play some matches and return to MM.
@consolehaven: ps5 does have it. It's called loading Miles Morales in 12 sec. Sony wasn't focusing on old games like MS. Sony will have all next gen games loading in 12 seconds. So 10 sec and 12 seconds. hmm?
I'll take the new games and 12 sec load times, thanks.
@johnny0779: Miles Morales loads almost as fast as Quick Resume, and it's a next gen game with RT in an open world. Sony didn't build a console to make features for old games. That's MS's shtick.
Can't wait to see SXS try to load a new triple A game, if they ever release one, with RT in an open world. lol
@notafan: I'll say it again. Next Gen games will load in 12 sec on the ps5 like Miles Morales, with its RT and open world. Quick Resume takes 10 sec to load a old game. Why would Sony invest in a feature that it's console can accomplish without it.
Now i would like to see the SXS load a game like MM with its RT and open world.
U think it loads in 10 seconds like the old games the SXS loads right now?
We shall see.
So what exclusives for the next gen xbox are you buying at launch?
Miles Morales loads in 12 sec. Quick Resume takes 10 sec. You tell me, did Sony really need a QR? Or is it basically the same thing when your next gen games load in almost the same time as a QR?
Last gen games seems to be MS's bag.
I want to see XSX load a game like Miles Morales, with its RT and open world in 12 sec.
