I have been taking an interest in the game more and more leading up to it's release. R1 had quite a flushed palette and a linear story for me, so after trying it for a few days I couldn't really get into it. But R2 touches up a lot on the graphics as far as I have seen with a colourful pallete too.
The extra features this time around and the sheer numbers for multiplayer make this game more apeeling. I think it will sell well but it lacks a split screen online play which is becoming an expected thorn in PS3 shooters to date. Lots of people can remember the fun they had on split screen timesplitters on the PS2 why don't developers captilise on that. R2 covers a good deal of ground over R1 and should deliver results because of that.
Far Cry 2 is a very impressive game and probably will have an impact on R2. Unless your buying R2 mainly for the coop and online magnitude Far Cry 2's SP should do a better job there is a lot more focus on the environment and reactions and how the environment reacts to you in Far Cry 2 whereas R2 is going for a more grand scale approach.
Inconsistency of enemy artificial intelligence being affected by flashbangs. Especially annoying on the epilogue mission.
Enemy A.I. never tries to go after your teammates, they always go after the player and always know where you are.

Is the case with many games, only Tom Clancy games I've tried make you feel that your really behind the shadows and covert. Never tried MGS but I hope I get that same feeling makes it a lot more fun.
