WOW! What a day it was. Had lot of fun and great surprises. To start off the day, me, my dad n mom went to town to do some shopping for my B'day. Bought some Louis Philippe - Pepe Jeans; Jeans and T-Shirts. Then, went to baskin robins and ate a delightful ice-cream, tasty for real. ;) Then, to my surprise, Dad drove me to the PC Shop and ordered a new GPU and a Monitor, :D! They hesitated at first cause the GPU was around 16K INR ! They were really shocked when the shopkeeper told the price. (The card I told was a GTX 560 Ti). But then, he told the SK to order onegreta and along with that, for a double enjoyment, Dad ordered a new monitor too :D! It was really surprising, I never expected my Dad to buy something like that for me. He is the best ever Dad in the world :)! Thanks Dad! So, I can play all the latest games in Max settings, according to the YT videos, with or without Physx and AA. And, I will also buy some games like Crysis 2, AC: Brotherhood, Shift 2 UL etc. Wow, a great day it was for sure. And I also need to ask you guys whether there was any problem with my selection. So far, I guess the GTX 560 Ti is a good card with average performance. Also, considering my other rig, I guess it'll suit my PC perfectly. Now, I'm anxious to get the card on my PC and run some cool games! :D

And finally, my exams have come to an end. It was easy, most of 'em but still, the Maths and Science papers were a bit thinky. Aah Forget it! Now my exams are over and got one month full of Holly-Jolly days. I'm gonna shop for some games like AC: Brotherhood, Dragon Age II, Portal 2, Crysis 2 (which I wanted the most) and lots of other stuff. Its a bit sad that most super rockers will be coming around 2012. Anyways, I'll buy what I can get and also expect some major rewards from my Dad since its my b'day on May 24. Yippee!! Most probably, a new GPU (GTX 560Ti) or Processor. I'm happy with both of 'em! :D Then, we'll visit some temples or go out of state to TN or Bangalore. It'll surely be a great vaccation and also, invited all for b'day ;). And I'll be posting more reviews and other stuff so guyz, please comment. ;) And also, I made a new website, mainly for my neighbours around here who wish to hear interesting things on computer and technology. You guys too visit, share and comment. Also, please give feedbacks and suggest improvements with the site. The link is: www.universalia.tk
Pokemon White: Review 9.5/10
by sangeethmanayil on Comments
I got my hands on the latest game in the Pokemon series, the Pokemon white version recently. I couldn't afford to buy a black version not because I didn't had the money to buy it but the stock was out and I have to wait 2 days to get it. So, by the time I played this thrilling and one of the best in the series game. First, I need to tell you all that I'm a huge fan of Pokemon. Not only because of the fact that it was the first cartoon I saw in my life, but the storyline is amazing and the saga still is continuing (Black and White have not yet appeared on the TV but it'll come pretty soon). I also played the previous ones like Gold and Silver for GameBoy and Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, HeartGold and SoulSilver for DS. Black and White takes place on a new region called the Unova (New York based) and not the previous ones. Black and White has the same storyline if I'm correct.
Pokemon Black and White have major differences compared to the previous ones in the available pokemons. If you are playing Black, you can get pokemons like vullaby, cottonee, gothitelle and more. The legendary fire Pokemon Reshiram can only be obtained in Black Version. On the other hand, you'll encounter petlil, lilligant, solosis and more. The legendary electric pokemon Zekrom can be obtained in White version. So, if you want to get Reshiram, you need to have Black version and Zekrom vice-versa. I prefer white because Zekrom is more powerful and stylish and have immense electric power. Both look beautiful but Zekrom has a little advantage. So many new pokemons are available but I guess most of them are not good and taken from shape of lamps, candles, trash etc. But the story was very stunning in the last. The PokeCenter and Peke Mart are now combined so you can shop and heal at one place. Another cool thing is that TMs can now be used as many times you want and the moves can be erased easily. There are two new battle modes. Trio battles which you play with three pokemons and rotational battles. Another exciting feature is the seasons. Seasons change in the game and seasons also depend on the availability of a particular pokemon and also, their appearences. Entralink is a new feature which allows other players to visit you in-game. There is also Dream World from where you can get new pokemon and items. Also, now you can play battle with random opponents without a friend code. The Pokemon Contest is replaced with Pokemon Musicals which is not competitive at all and is an absurd feature.
Gameplay image
You can play as a boy or a girl. While starting, Professor Juniper (She is the Prof. in this game) will give you three powerful pokemons to choose from (Snivy-Grass, Tepig-Fire and Oshawott-Water). Then your journey begins. You'll also be accompanied by your two new friends-Cheren and Bianca. The Gym Leaders are pretty strong but I don't know why, I kind of felt the game was easier than the previous ones. The stunning features are the new battle cam and enhanced 3D. Almost all the structures are 3D. There is C-Gear which allows you to connect via IR, WiFi or Wireless Connections. The game has amazing graphics and a variety of regions you can visit. The journey seems easy for me. And the arch enemies in the game are Team Plasma. Team Plasma is on the move with a new idea – Pokemon Liberation. You'll be fighting with them in several places of your journey and helping the people. You'll also meet their leader N (very strange name). The stunning fact of the game was N capturing Reshiram. I used my character and fought all the way to the top of some dragon tower and when I reached there, what surprised me was the fact that N captured Reshiram. Then he'll ask you to go to the Relic castle to get the Dark Stone containing Zekrom but you won't get it. But soon after, you'll get the stone from the museum where you went before. Next you need to go to the league, beat the Elite 4 as usual and then you can see N defeating the Champion. In the final battle between N and you, Zekrom will appear and you'll have an easy victory. I know it sounds a little not understanding but I recommend you to play this game if you are really a pokemon fan. Also, you'll have several side quests after defeating N (Haven't completed them yet). There were many drawback for the game. It had only one region. In HG/SS, you can go to Jhoto and Kanto. But you can only cruise through Unova. I also expected some more features but overall, the game is surprisingly good with a thrilling storyline. The Musicals is absurd and the main gameplay seems short. So, summarizing every key points I noted. These are the basic advantages and disadvantages of the game. Although it didn't had a long journey, the game did impress me and I'm giving it a score of 9.0/10 :).
Advantages:
- New region called Unova which has very interesting places and a new anti-poke team Plasma. There is also for the first time a lady Professor, Prof. Juniper (I guess she is the first one)
- The players are teenage I guess. I always wonder why Ash in the Pokemon TV series has not grown up yet.:D
- New battle modes but not much impressive.
- Graphics are awesome with more battle animations and a better battle cam. Almost all looks 3D.
- Powerful and pretty nice legends-Zekrom and Reshiram.
- More Pokemon.
- Very thrilling storyline.
- New features - EntraLink and Dreamworld. Play battles with random opponents without friend code.
- Seasons change during the gameplay changing the appearence of some pokemon and their availability.
- PokeMart and PokeCenter are combined and TMs can be used more than once.
Drawbacks:
- You cannot visit other regions. Unova is the only place.
- Gameplay seems too short avoiding the side quests. Not much impressive like the previous ones.
- Some pokemon are exclusive for Black and White. You need to trade to get them.
- Most new pokemons are not much impressive.
- Pokemon musicals is an absurd feature and it is not competitive at all like Pokemon Contests.
Finally, returning to GS

Hi guys,
First, how are you doing everyone:)? It's been a long time since I opened GameSpot the last time. I was so stuffed up with my studies, competitions and my exams. Now, the final exams are near to finish. But, I couldn't write the exams with my friends. I always believed that there aint no good lucks without atleast one bad luck. Normally, I don't believe in lucks but I used it here coz I think it matches what I meant. The year 2011 started with great chances and achievements for me. I got the chance for taking part in many competitions and also got very very memorable achievements too. The first one was for a continous winning in all the IT competitions (Web Designing, Typing, PPT etc.) conducted by the school and apart from that prizes, I also got an overall for bagging all the firsts in the IT competitions. Next was the best ever achievement I got in my life so far. I was ranked first in a state-level IT exam conducted by UNSW Australia and Macmillan and got certificates and a gold medal from UNSW:D:D. Also, got several other things are there but I am only telling you the major ones. But after all these, just as I said before a "Bad Luck" struck me. I slipped from the school stairs and my wrist broke:(. It happened about two weeks ago and now its getting better. But I missed my final exams and will write a re-test next month. But thanks to god, the worse didn't happen. Now, I'm sitting in my home, doing nothing and its very hard to play games or type anything left-handed. But somehow, I managed to get some speed while left-handed.
So, since my exams are over, I am coming back to GS and once again be with all my amigos in here8). I also got a bunch of games, some of which I completed and some I'm playing currently. Some of them are Fallout NV, Starcraft II: WOL, Just Cause 2, SmackdownVsRaw 2010 & 2011, Resident Evil 5, Fifa 11, Pokemon White etc. I'm also going to get Dragon Age II, Assassins Creed Brotherhood, COD: Black Ops and more. I could've buyed them before but after all this hand-wreck problems, I wouldn't be able move the crosshair before an enemy shoots me;). So, I'll be posting reviews here and also blogs and I hope you guys will like them and comment.
.................Oh and btw, my dad promised to get me a new and cool graphics card soon after the exams:D. I'm totally excited!!!:)And also, I missed each and everyone of my amigos while I was away!!:)
Powerpoint Presentation Competition
by sangeethmanayil on Comments
Hi guys,
I'm posting this to let you all know that me and my team (3 students) got selection for the state level competitions from our district in the CBSE Cultural Fest of Sahodaya North Kerala for PowerPoint Presentation8):D:lol:. It's really a great honor to get this achievement mainly because of two reasons. Firstly, it's the first time that I get selection for a state competition and secondly, It's the second time that our school is getting selection for Sahodaya Fest. I'm really happy:)!! The Sahodaya North Kerala Fest has been conducting for over several years. Last year, the powerpoint competition was only for the seniors and I couldn't participate in IT field competitions. I'm happy not only because my team has won the competition in the district level, but my Dad promised me on upgrading my Motherboard and maybe Graphic Card. Yipee!!!:)
The finals are being conducted on November 11 in Trivandrum, Kerala. Maybe I should be able to see @fend_oblivion :D!So, I request all my dear friends to pray and cheer me and my team to come out with flying colours;)!!
I'm BAAACK guys!!

Hi guys,
It's been a long time since I opened gamespot. There's good news and bad news. The good news is that the new syllabus has cancelled exams for 10th students and so there isn't a board exam for 10th. Students are very happy as they dont need to study harder for the following years. Though the bad news is that my parents have decided to change my syllabus as for higher classes because they are looking on the state syllabus marks. But the state syllabus is a lot easier than the current syllabus and the exams are a lot easier though there's a lot to study. But still, the current syllabus can change their plans on bringing back the exams. But still now I can cruze through GameSpot.
The recent days were very good as my dad bought some games including Assassin's Creed II, NFS Shift, PES 2010 and many more from my friends too. I also got an SVR2010 for PS2. I also got several DS games which I play using the DeSmuMe emulator. So the days are becoming more and more fun and I better start reviewing all these games. Please check out my reviews and also keep tracking on me!;)
Itz my birthday!
by sangeethmanayil on Comments
I'm very happy and excited because tomorrow (24 May) is my birthday.:D:D Well, not fully happy since I'll be having classes tomorrow so I won't get chance to celebrate my bday by going out and having fun. Moreover, my dad's gonna return tomorrow. So, I'll celebrate it today in advance and I'll be going out to town and will enjoy it. My dad will buy a cake today and will be cutting it @ evening. It's very sad that I won't be able to relax tomorrow. I'll be turning out to 14 tomorrow. But still, I need to concentrate on my studies and will only give less time for celebrations.:( But my friends said they will arrange a small bday party tomorrow. I wish you all would be there for the party!:) I will also get some cool presents and I can't wait for tomorrow! I guess it'll be fun!:)
Leaving GameSpot!
by sangeethmanayil on Comments
Well, there is not much spare time for me to GameSpot. I faced serious problems with my pc and the net connection and thus I didn't got time to blog or review about the games I played recently. The rain which took place in our town led to cutting of power supply.
Everything became normal just one or two days ago. My PC got repaired, the net also fixed, the power came back and all turned out to be good. But worse, my ****s started and so I won't be able to visit my GameSpot account and see ya all. It's sad but also serious to concentrate on my studies. This time, its getting tougher as new rules came. So, my parents set up a password for the PC and will only allow computing on weekends. So, I'm gonna miss you all for a long time and also I love you all!:D
The Age of Empires Saga
by sangeethmanayil on Comments
The Age Of Empires SAGA....
Age of Empires is an epic strategy game from Ensemble Studios. The mark to my trend towards strategy games was Age of Empires. I guess the time was in 2006 or 2005. At that time, I had a good for nothing system and most of the games were not playable in it. I got several games like NFS Underground, Prince of Persia but neither one worked. So, I found out this cool strategy game from a local store and from the beginning onwards I was very fond of it. It's simply a historic strategic game featuring different civilizations. You can choose your own civilization and start playing against your computer or your friends via multiplayer mode. The aim is to build up your settlement to a big empire, help your allies and defeat the enemies. The CD I bought at first contained Age of Empires I: Rise of Rome and Age of Empires II: Conquerors. First is First so I will explain about each game in the AOE series one by one. Age of Empires I: Rise of Rome So, I installed the first game in the AOE series first. The game was superb with good graphics in 2D. This game included the ancient civilizations like Rome, Greece, Egypt, Babylon and more. There were also good tutorials for the game. There are different game modes. Either you can play the tough and strategic campaigns with lots of games featuring different emperors and civilizations. Then there is single player mode where you can select any civilizations. You can also select the map you want and the no. of enemies and allies. You can also increase the no. of resources. So, let us come to gameplay. In most single player games, you start your empire as a little town with one town center and a few villagers. The town center is the most important building in your town. You can produce villagers from the town center. Also, you can upgrade your empire to different ages from the town center. The villagers play an important role in the development of your city. Villagers are required to build buildings and gather resources. You can assign one or more villagers to a specific resource like stone, gold, food or wood. You can only build buildings and units if you have the sufficient resources required. Advancing to different ages also require resources. When you advance to different ages, your town center gets modified and new upgrades and buildings will be available. There are military buildings, Granaries, Walls etc. Also, when you reach at the last age, the Wonder will be available. The Wonder is a key building which can be used to win the game. That's right! If you build a wonder, a timer will appear and if you can protect your wonder without destroying it for the specific time, you will win the game. If you lose your wonder, the timer will disappear and you will have to build it again or win by defeating your opponent. A gameplay from Age of Empires I You can train soldiers to defend your empire from barracks or stable. There are other buildings from which you can build other military units. Villagers can build docks to train fishing ships and galleys for naval war units. Siege workshop is also present which can produce siege equipments like scorpions. The priest is another unit but time wasting. The priest can convert enemy units into your side one at a time. It will take time converting so the enemy may can attack the priest with the sufficient time. You can attack your enemies anytime and defeat them. But, the enemies can also attack you so you must defend yourself and must be prepared. There is also a limit for producing units which is called the population limit. If the population limit is 100, only 100 units can be produced and cannot exceed it. So, you must be very careful while producing units. There is also a map editor tool through which you can make your own map and gather units at a certain place. The campaign mode contains several campaigns of kings or some wars. You may not be treated with the proper units and resources just like in single player mode. Sometimes, only war units maybe present and no villagers will be available for building and training. Or sometimes single units like king who then must be used to explore the map and find the town. Age of Empires: Rise of Rome is really a great strategic game. Age of Empires II: Conquerors Age of Empires II is the next edition in the Age of Empires series. The game features more advanced civilizations with advanced technologies. British, China, Japan, Korea are a few civilizations in this game. It has better visuals, maps and technologies and several campaigns. The gameplay is just like the first game but with a lot of change. New ages, buildings, units and civilization are present. Also, single player and multiplayer modes are present. The town center is more detailed and so are the units. Buildings are divided into technology, food, military and naval based. Buildings like blacksmith provide only technologies which can help the town or strengthen buildings and units. Some technologies are also available in town center too. The resources are same and you can build mills to make farms and assign a villager to it. Wonder is also present in this game too. Stunning technologies are also present. Another new building is the castle. With castle, you can create your civilization's special unit. If you select Korean civilization, your special unit will be war wagons. Some war technologies are also present at the castle. I remember a cool technology which is common to all civilizations by which you can see your enemies. You cannot see your enemies and the things happening in the map unless you have a unit of your own near to it. Through this technology from castle, you can track your enemies. It's a cool thing but very costly. New military units like battering rams, catapults are present. You can also upgrade each unit to a higher position with more attacking skills. I liked the Age of empires II more than the first game since they are some more easy to play. The campaigns are also colorful with lots of games to play and challenging. The map editor was far better than that of the first game. Age of Empires II became more popular and became a friendly little strategic game which can attract the gamers. Most of my friends still play Age of Empires II that the latest and older versions. I guess Age of Empires II really got in their mind! A screenshot from Age of Empires II: The Conquerors Age of Empires III My like with Age of Empires II faded away with the arrival of Age of Empires III. I got the news from the Internet and I was looking forward in buying it. I upgraded my PC just before the arrival of AOEIII and I was lucky since I can play this game as soon as I get it. Unfortunately, I had to wait a lot to get the game since it was not available in the local store. My Dad bought it to me on my birthday. I quickly ran to my PC and installed and opened. What I saw was a game entirely different from the usual strategy games I ever played. It was beautiful with 3D textures and amazing graphics. The AOEIII was a lot different from the older games. It featured the 16th century heroes like Morgan black and the rest of the black family. The gameplay was stunning with great graphics, map textures and units. The new town center is really beautiful and advanced ages are present for upgrading. Cannons, mortars, musketeers and all units are modern. The buildings also changed. The fort replaced Castle. New buildings with latest technologies, units and upgrades arrived. A cool campaign, single player and multiplayer mode gaming is also present. The civilizations are modern like the Spanish, Russia, British, French and more civilizations are present in the AOEIII game. Some tribal civilizations are present which you can ally with by building a trading post. Trade routes can also be occupied by building trade posts. You can later upgrade them to a road or railway for getting trade resources faster. Units also have new appearances. Musketeers replaced the swordsmen. Siege units are also based on the modern warfare. Cannons, grenadiers have taken siege warfare to a new level. The war ships equipped with cannons are also great units. You can feel an old ship battle in AOEIII. Priests, villagers and other units are present. Factories, fort, blockhouses are some of the new buildings in the game. Some buildings are only available for some civilizations only. Towers are also present which can be build near the gate to attack the enemies. Bombard towers uses cannons against the enemies. A new feature called XP points is present. As you develop, your XP points will increase. You can go to your hometown at any time of the game by clicking on your country's flag. This will take you to your hometown. You can view the available shipments there. I you have enough XP points, you can send a shipment to your town. Villagers, technologies and units can be sent from hometown. Detailed map makes the game attractive. There also a lot more features in the Game. This Game has two extra add-on packs: A screenshot from AOEIII The Age of Empires III: Warchiefs- which includes three nomadic tribal civilizations and new campaigns.Iroquois, Aztecs and Sioux are the new civilizations. Some improvement to other civilizations can also be found and new technologies are available. A screenshot from AOEIII: Warchiefs The Age of Empires III: Asian Dynasties- which includes three Asian civilizations and new campaigns. New civilizations like India, Japan and China are available. New buildings, map rotation and units will also be available. New campaigns based on the new civilizations are also present. A screenshot from AOEIII: Asian Dynasties Conclusion: Altogether, the AOEIII is the best and the most beautiful game in the Age of empires series. Those who are out there have not tried the game, you should try it. There was a cover which I got when I bought the AOEIII full which shows the AOE series with the released age of empire games and a artwork of Age of empires IV and V, I don't know whether they are bringing out the next Age of empires game in the series but I hope they would make a lovely game soon in the series. (NOTE: I didnt include the Age of Mythology in this review. Also, there are more and more features than the ones I have written here present in the game)
Splinter Cell: Double Agent Demo Review (9.5/10)
by sangeethmanayil on Comments
Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Double Agent Demo
Ok, so here's my review for the Splinter Cell: Double Agent demo. I haven't played the Splinter Cell games in the series before and this is my first Splinter Cell game and its a demo only. I don't know much about Splinter Cell and its characters and stories. So, please apologize if I made any mistake in this review.
So, I bought a magazine CD before 1 year and it included demos of some cool games. I got the SCDA demo from it. I guess you must be thinking that why I didn't reviewed this demo before. Well, the Video Card I owned at that time was not enough to play this cool game. So, I didn't got a chance to play this game. But later well, I forgot about the game and I got it when I simply checked my collection. I heard about the SP series and I always wished to have one. But I got only this demo. Anyways, Splinter Cell: Double Agent is a great game with great graphics and gameplay. You play as Sam Fisher, A guy working for a secret agency. The demo includes only two missions. In the first mission, you play in a snowland from where you need to get to a ship. But first, its para jumping from the sky! whooa! You land on a snow terrain and then some guys will appear in heli next to your equipments. You must have to eliminate those guys and then take the equipments. The game's pretty challenging and I got too tired of walking without alerting the guards! sheesh!(I always get scared when I play such games, I dont know why!LOL!) But there are several controls and movements you can do. It reminds me of Hitman but its far better than Hitman. Stealth kills are there by getting behind an enemy and then getting hold on their neck. Either you can kill him with your knife or just knock him down. I had a great gaming with this awesome game. There were weapons like silenced pistol and another gun which you can use. There were also smoke grenade, flash grenades and such things(I only used the gun). Also lockpicks and Hacking devices were there. The game is just plain fun but also very challenging. The thing that attracted me towards Splinter Cell was the cool night vision on Sam's head. It was very pretty looking and nice. The device also has heat sensor and wave vision. But there are too many controls so you may forget them. I guess the console version is better.
After eliminating the guards in the first mission, you will reach the ship in the next one. You can go underwater in the first mission and get to another area in the map without being known. In the next mission, you must eliminate all the guards in the ship and get to a cabin. This is very hard because you need to kill each guard without being seen by anyone else. You can take the body and place it anywhere you like just like in Hitman so that guards cant see it and wont be alerted. After eliminating the guards , new guards will appear and a new area of the ship will appear and you need to eliminate the guards in that area too. There are also several ways to get the guards attention to somewhere else liking switching the lights off, smoking the guards and sending them to unconsciousness etc. Another thing I forgot to tell was the watch which has an inbuilt 3D map and other options. The 3D map can show the position of your enemies in a 3D map. The option is good but the map sometimes look confusing. You cannot move it. You can only view each section of the map, zoom and rotate it. But sometimes, you cannot see some portions in the map with only rating. If you could move the map with arrow keys, it would better help with the problem. The map also should have improved.
Now back with the mission, after eliminating the guards in the second area and going down to the turbine, you would meet the captain who is standing alone near the mission objective in the map. Some primary objectives will also appear which you can use to complete the mission easily. You can view a cutscene when you reach near the captain showing a bald man holding a torch and patrolling. The game ends there and what will happen is a suspense. The demo ended perfectly in the way it should end with a great suspense what will happen next. A splinter cell: DA advertisement will appear on the screen and the game exits.
The game was really great and I liked it alot. It made me to like SP series and I am looking forward to buy the full version of SCDA. Though there are few small weaknesses, the game is suitable for those who likes the Splinter Cell series and Hitman like action adventure games, its a must try! The new Splinter Cell: Conviction also is also out now to buy which tells the continuation of SCDA. But first is first so after playing and completing Splinter Cell: Double Agent, then only I shall buy conviction. So, those who are out there have not seen Splinter Cell, try it and feel it.
Positives:
+Good gameplay and stories.
+Good texture and map.
+Great options and equipments.
+Stealth killing, underwater swimming gives a great experience to all gamers.
Weaknesses:
-No 3D map movement with arrow keys, makes tough to see a portion of a map.
-Hard to get used with controls in keyboard.
-The demo contains no tutorials which makes it tough to understand the controls, A good voice, text tutorial option should have included.
