Exactly, and this is the most important part, as it illustrates that footage such as the Zapruder Film does not count. It is widely believed that actual snuff films do not exist. The only way to distribute one for profit would be as part of an illegal 'underground' industry - very hard to maintain - and you would also need to find a person willing to be sacrificed. They only way, I think, is if a person with a terminal illness was willing to do it in exchange for several million dollars which would be paid to their next of kin. I think a recent foreign film was made with that plot, actually.
Wait are you saying you don't believe it? Most the time the people don't "volunteer" they're kidnapped and nsty stuff is done to them on camera while they don't even know there's a camera. And saying it's not believable because you'd have to be part of an 'underground ring' is ridiculous...look at the illegal sex trade that goes on throughout the world. I said it was widely believed, although it is possible that some exist. The thing is that, although the underground sex trade exists, there have been plenty of occasions when sex slaves have been rescued, and slavers brought to justice. However, there are no cases that I know of when actual snuff films have been discovered (and in today's technological age, I would be surprised if one could exist without finding its way onto the internet somehow. It is true that people could be tricked into it, though - but I wonder how it would go if there was an actual plot to the movie, probably a lot of lies and deception.
The underground sex trade business does not necessarily have anything to do with snuff films. How hard is it to believe a film would not make it onto the Internet. Snuff films only need to have a crew of one or two. Cameraman and sex actor, which are sometimes the same. Generally, the idea is that someone, such as a prostitute, is paid to have sex with someone while they tape it. After the dontract is fulfilled, the "prostitute" is killed. They are not movies in the sense of a story arc and so forth. They are the cheap adult films that just have intercourse. Only these are followed with the death of one of those involved. I'm sure that those making the films would only market their films to those who had proven themselves as interested customers...
True, but still... according to a source on the wikipedia artcle, there has NEVER been any recorded case of a snuff film being found. And I just find it hard to believe that in this day and age, of widespread internet usage with so many vids being uploaded to the internet, an actual snuff film could escape discovery by at least one person. Or perhaps capture by someone pretending to be a customer. It would only take one single case, one single mistake by one of these distributers, one customer who lied or got cold feet and felt morally obligated Not impossible, but just unlikely. Oh well.
