You can use technology as an analogy. With out the issue of money, an hd dvd player does everything an older one does only with more quality. The hd is better overall but you can still value the older one for what ever reason, be it fashion, user freindlines, what ever. Vanilla Ice can do everything that Jay-Z can do, but Jay-Z does eveything so much better. I believe it's possible to apply specs to a rappers skill just as you would apply specs to a piece of technology. It would be much harder to do so but mathmatically it's possible. Someones preference doesn't have to be that of the goat either, but that doesn't stop the goat from being the goat. It's not possible for a human to decipher the mathmatics, but there is mathmatics involved. So in a sense, to us humans the goat is just a preference, but to laws of nature it might not be. to certain aspects of an mc yes, but when lyrics come into play thats when the subjectiveness of this arguments comes into play. also someone could argue pac is the goat cos of what he stood for, but then biggie is considered goat cos of his flow and the way he used words. which is valued more? that is up to the person, so there can only be a goat to the individual person, not a universal goat.

Well you said art is no different than music, so why do we pay millions of dollars for paintings by Picasso, Rembrandt, Dali, Van Gogh, etc. instead of paying millions of dollars for pictures that 6 year olds do in their coloring books?
