Yawn @ E for All

*YAWN*

Oh, I'm sorry; it's just that I was at this year's E for All. Zing!

Seriously, what a letdown. I knew that the lack of Nintendo prescence would affect the expo, but sheesh, there was hardly anything worth mentioning. The only thing I liked was an obscure DS FPS called C.O.R.E.; lots of potential there. Everything else was for PC gaming enthusiasts and people that missed Nintendo's early games (Wii Fit, Brawl, Mario Kart Wii; nothing new, not even Sluggers).

If there is an E for All next year, and if Nintendo goes, I'll just buy a one-day ticket; this year, you could see everything the expo had to offer in less than six hours.

And now, back to college. Just three classes though (thank you, God!); that means lots of free time to play my DS and Guitar Hero: World Tour on Wii!

Off to E for All

So, last year's E for All expo was great because of Nintendo's presence. "Wouldn't it be great to go this year", I thought, "to play and cover the latest Nintendo games, especially the DS ones!". Ha! Turns out Nintendo isn't going. Big bummer; I bought a 3-day pass and dragged a friend to do so as well.

We're off, and to be honest I'm not expecting anything good besides a chance to play Guitar Hero World Tour before its official release (by the way, I'm becoming a huge GH fan). Other than that...I have nothing to look forward to. Hopefully some nice surprises come our way.

I'll write a quick summary of the entire event come Sunday evening. Until then, stay fresh. Is anyone else going?

False alarm; DS found

I'm happy; my sister found my lost DS and games

I'm very angry; she didn't really find them. Yes, stupid me left it at Denny's, but my sister grabbed it and hid it in her room.

I don't know how to feel. I'm sorry for sharing my pain in my last post, only to 'trick' you. In reality though, I was tricked, too. Well, I'm glad I don't have to spend $200 to recover my games, and I'm very glad that my special DS Lite is back.

*sigh* Oh well, at least everything's back to normal :)

Lost my DS and 8 games :(

The #1 DS fan is in pain. Last night at Denny's I lost my spare black DS Lite and eight DS games. Remember? It's the DS which top screen didn't work. I got it for $25 off eBay. No big loss per se, but I liked the little guy; I always took it with me instead of my functioning white DS Lite for security reasons; you can see why.

The eight games were:
- Tetris DS
- Meteos: 90+ hours of gameplay, gone :(
- New Super Mario Bros.
- Brain Age - I was done with 80% of the Sudoku puzzles :(
- Elite Beat Agents
- Animal Crossing: Wild World (didn't play it much, just on Saturday nights to see K.K. Slider)
- Ouendan
- Ouendan 2 (import titles, somewhat pricey :()

Aprox. cost to replace games: $200

Darn. Everyone, be careful with your games :(

RIP, blackie; you were so dear to me. I always wondered if one day your top screen would work again. What sucks the most is that I didn't get a chance to say good-bye :(

Six more DS games, with ironic coincidences!

The #1 DS fan is back, buying DS games like crazy. I just bought six games for under $60, and now I have 140. That's all fine and dandy, but you won't believe the coinky-dinks these six new games have. First, let me tell you the games I bought and in what order:

- Nodame Cantabile
- Boogie
- Balls of Fury
- Asphalt Urban GT
- Big Mutha Truckers
- Rafa Nadal Tennis

All but the first can rightfully be called garbage, but hey, to me they are all important :) Anywho, do you see what's going on? I went for the cheapest games I could find so I could buy as many as possible, but take a look at this:

- 2 games are of the rhythm genre
- 2 games are racers
- 2 games are about tennis (well, one is ping-pong, but close enough)

Wow; just...wow. Craziness :)

I'm expecting some extra money in about a month; I might reach the 150 DS games benchmark much sooner than expected :) When that happens, expect pictures!

OMG, my laptop, I'm so sorry...

Oh, what have I done?...

I always hated my laptop for being so slow. Little did I know that I cheaped out on the RAM when I bought it; the poor thing only has 512MB of RAM in it! No wonder! And the poor thing still managed to run multiple programs well enough.

I'm very sorry, Lappy. And I had no idea you had two processors! Tell you what, I'll buy you a 2GB piece of RAM; that ought to spice you up like crazy!

Wow; I was a complete computer noob two years ago :)

Me @ The Dog Island - Introduction

As you can see in my 'Now Playing' list, I have purchased The Dog Island for the Wii.

*waits for possible jokes and mockery to cease*

Now hold on, it's not what you think. This 'kiddy' game has earned decent reviews and has been enjoyed by many players, wether they want to admit it or not. I have lacked something in gaming; perhaps an epic adventure, perhaps a really addictive game that is not Brawl or Guitar Hero. The Dog Island seems like the right game for me; I love dogs, I actually like sad stories, and I need to play something different, something not-hardcore and non-casual; something 'slow', if you will.

I've been very busy, but I finally got the game in the mail today and played for about an hour. So far so good; the story has kicked in; basically you're a dog with a sick brother or sister that needs help from a doctor that lives far away, in The Dog Island. I'm on my way there; I picked a Siberian Husky, because they look a lot like my favorite animal, the wolf. The game's controls are intuitive, and the soundtrack is quite good; the graphics are crude, but that's fine, as long as the dogs are all cute-looking :) My only gripe so far is the camera; it's a bit clunky most of the time, at least so far.

Every now and then I'll continue to blog about The Dog Island, just to spread the word on a game that many might overlook; it could turn out to be quite enjoyable :)

My first earthquake experience

Did you hear (or feel)? There was a 5.4 earthquake in Southern California this morning, about half an hour from my home.

It was the first time I experienced an earthquake; we didn't have those back in Chihuahua, Mexico :) It wasn't that bad; I was expecting more 'chaos', although I'm sure bigger earthquakes are horrible. I guess what I'm trying to say is that I wasn't as 'shaken' as the rest of my family :D

Anyone else felt it? Lots of quakes where you live?
