Can't wait for it, either. Japanese DSiWare has a game by Hudson called IllustLogic, which is their Picross, and it's a ton of fun; I'm playing that right now, but I can't wait for Picross 3D.

As far as I can tell, this will be just like standard Picross with an extra 'layer' to keep track of; depth. So if we get 15x15x15 or 20x20x20 puzzles, man, those are going to be tough; can't wait!

So yeah, thinking of getting a used 60GB backwards compatible PS3 but I have a few questions that I couldn't find the answer for in the existing threads:

1 - Say the PS3 breaks, can Sony fix it (for a fee, of course) and keep it 60GB backwards compatible, or do I have to buy another one?
2 - What can the newer PS3 models do that the 60GB model can't? I'm not sure, but I think there was some trouble with old SixAxis controllers versus the new DualShock 3s.
3 - Where's the best place to get a used 60GB PS3 in good shape? GameStop and eBay are options, but I'm not sure how well GameStop checks the systems they sell.

That's it. Thanks for your help, and hopefully I can work things out and join the Sony side of console gaming for once :)

DS

Hello everyone. Just wanted to remind you all that today, November 21st, marks the fifth anniversary of the launch of the original Nintendo DS. Five awesome years of dual-screened gaming already!

I remember that cloudy Sunday morning, going to my local GameStop at 11 AM and picking up my system and Super Mario 64 DS. The place was deserted; I guess people, like myself, were skeptical on just how innovative this 'DS thing' would turn out to be.

And now, five years later, with DS Lite, DSi, and even DSi XL, the DS legacy stands as the best-selling video game system in recent years, with a huge catalog of games of all genres.

Thank you, DS, for being with me for the best 5 years of my life; here's to 5 more!

(This is intended for current owners of US / European DSi systems)

For those considering importing a DSi LL (DSi XL outside Japan), there are a few reasons to do so:

- Get the newest DSi at least around 2 months before the rest of the world
- Get access to Japanese DSiWare and their quirky, 200-point games that probably won't make it outside Japan
- Have a DSi XL of a color that might not be available outside Japan, at least initially (maybe)

PlayAsia currently offers pre-orders of all colors for $270:
http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-9h-49-en-70-3mb4.html

Wny not import? Depending on the price of the DSi XL outside Japan, you could save $80+ by waiting a couple of months. We don't know how much the DSi XL will cost outside Japan, other than the fact that it will be more than the DSi. We also don't know what colors will be available.

My guesses? $200 in White and Wine Red. Why $200? There are a few reasonable reasons:

- DSi = $170, but remember, Nintendo initially intended it to sell for $180; they dropped 10 bucks to increase sales, basically
- Difference between DSi and DSi LL in Japan: $15
- I'm guessing the DSi XL won't offer 1,000 free DSi points, but it will come pre-loaded with some to-be-determined DSiWare

I honestly think the DSi XL will cost $200 when it comes out. Add sales tax to that, and importing doesn't seem that farfetched...to me at least :)

Your opinion?

I hope not; I plan to import :) Anyone else? Play-Asia has it for $270 right now; I'm waiting to see what renchi.com has to say about that :P

Scribblenauts is going to suffer because it's Scribblenauts

Games like that just don't sell well

I've already made the argument before

The game is closest to Drawn to Life. It wasn't until it became Drawn to Life Spongebob Edition that it started to sell at a much better rate.

Nice to see you're still as pessimistic and critical as always. I've got the game pre-ordered, and I really hope it sells well. It's got a good chance; it has a lot of hype, and not just from DS player and Nintendo enthusiasts; it picked up a lot of attention since E3, and it should pay off. Will it sell well? I hope so, but I'm not flat-out saying it won't, like some people.

Definitely looking forward to this, but I really want to see reviews before I bite; good controls and enough content = purchase :)

I want the DS to stay as far as it can from the Wii.

Yandere

This is exactly how I feel; I'm gonna have to steal this one from you, if you don't mind; it's the perfect way to say it.
