Obligatory Valentine Blog

I blog so often that I'm pretty sure my last V-Day blog is on thr front page of my profile still.

Anyway, it's Singles Awarenesss Day again and I thought I'd make this to commemorate it. Not much has happened today, mostly due to me not having a valentine to celebrate.

Yesterday my church had a heart themed fund raiser that I helped serve in, and I realized that my dream of becoming a waiter in a fine restaurant would never be realized because I am pretty freaking terrible at being a waiter.

I also got that new S.T.A.L.K.E.R. game and I have to say it is pretty fun. Especially since the dialogue reflects what Ukraine thinks of us Americans. For example:
Person A: Wassup, bro?
Player Character: Can I ask you a question?
Person A: Okay, shoot.
PC: Nah, fuhgettaboutit.

Oh, and the cutscenes are absolutely laughable. They're a whirlwind of missed lines and poor acting. The game itself is scary as ever, though, and it's surprisingly less glitchy than the last two.

That's about it, I guess.

Oh by the way, I'm not dead.

Just thought I'd make a short blog telling about some things I may or may not have mentioned before my last wayback blog.

Games: Demon's Souls, Left 4 Dead, I reinstalled Star Wars: Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy for like the third time, and Trackmania United Forever.

Demon's Souls: A very hard, very atmospheric game. I thought I could sort of cruise through the first world. The game responded with pitting me against a giant knight and a dragon. Needless to say my kill death ratio was about 1:40.

Left 4 Dead: Stupid fun. I haven't been able to play multiplayer due to my steam account having a total of 1 friend, but single player is awesome. I can see why L4D2 wasn't necessary as a brand new game instead of an expansion. Sort of.

Star Wars yadda yadda: Blah blah it was made in like 2002 blah blah me and my friends set up a server yadda yadda I'm terrible at it bleh bleh

Trackmania United Forever: I was going to write something about how this game doesn't really follow physics very well, since the cars sort of bounce off the ground and slip around and there's no collision and things like that. Then I drove on a wall. The game went into 1st person to show me how awesome that was.

Notable books: The Hunger Games and the newest Uncle John's Bathroom Reader.

The Hunger Games: I less than three this book. I only bought it because the author wrote Gregor the Overlander, but it was still really good. The plot may have been mostly the same as Battle Royale, but somehow I liked this more. Basically it's set a short time into the future where the US has been replaced by a country called Panem, split into 12 districts and a capital. The Hunger Games are the Capital's way of showing their superiority over the districts after an attempted uprising. That's about it, search it in on Wikipedia or something if you want to blow away the rest of the plot.

Uncle John's: It's an Uncle John's book. And that's all there really is to say on the matter.

Music: Too much to count. In short, The Decemberists, The Strokes, and Sufjan Stevens.

Movies: I saw Avatar, I guess. It was basically just Dances With Wolves, except with aliens and a really obvious "save the environment" undertone. Also 3 hours of 3D eye candy.

Other stuff: I got a new computer with about 400 more gigs than my old one and an Ipod Touch. Both are awesome.

I guess this could qualify as a monthly blog if all of this took place over a month and those were still cool.

I just realized I haven't made a blog in a long time.

I think I'll make one now.

First, Scribblenauts. I got it a few days ago and have been playing it since. It's very fun, the amount of objects you can create is amazing, and Cthulu. My favorite puzzle is the one where you contain a corpse and bury it, even if it is really easy. The game has its flaws however, as shown in the below quote because I don't want to retype it and just copypasting it would be boring.

I got Scribblenauts a few days ago, I honestly thought it was overrated.

Sure, it's really fun with the amount of objects you can use, and some of the puzzles are pretty fun to solve (only SOME). But I'm going to say what just about everyone else has said, and that is that the game doesn't MAKE you be creative. Most levels can be solved with the exact same two objects every time. It kinda loses the fun.

shadowsurvivor1

Aside from that, there's also the ridiculous controls. You tap. Tap tap tap tap tap tap tap. Tap. Tap for movement. Tap for placing objects. Tap for making objects. Tap for shooting. Tap for grabbing. Tap for everything. Naturally, you'd expect a few movement problems from this. What would wouldn't expect is the game confusing "place water on fire" with "run Maxwell into a tripwire/pool of lava/Cthulu". I found myself making a wall on some levels just to stop my daft hero from killing himself.

Second, I like these songs. They don't really have much to do with each other but they're really good

Finally, cross country. I went up to Memphis a few weeks ago and ran in some big meet. It was fun, I ran the best 5K I've ever run, and I threw up. How fun. I really wasn't expecting to run it in 22:05

Oh yes, have a pretty picture

Random silly things

'Ello.

Just some stuff.

School started yesterday. Since it exceeded my extremely low expectations, I'd say freshman year will actually be pretty good.
I have an xfire, add me as bush42.
I'm running a 5K called "Run for the Son" tomorrow. At 8 am.
A great friend of mine (at least in my opinion) had to move away. Darn.
I can apparently get a new game, and I'd like a Burnout game, but I can't decide between Revenge and Paradise.

Later.

A brief glimpse into the life of shadowsurvivor1.

WAZZZZZAAAAAHHHHHHHHH.

Big news, Internet! After months of talking about it with no real plans of getting it, I bought Fallout 3.

It is AWESOME. But then again, so was Oblivion. And Fallout 3's basically Oblivion with guns.

Sorry if I can't provide a better description. Just google it or something, lazy bums.

So. Lots of celeb deaths. Farrah Fawcett, MJ, Ed McMahan, and Billy Mays. I was really shocked at Mays's death, and made it a point to yell at everyone in his honor.

So I was looking at my long-forgotten profile and realized that I'm almost level 32. 99% as of this blog.
I got the feeling that I wound up with 7000something posts and a lot of pointless blogs without actually doing anything.

Basketball Team Camp is this week. I HATE it. 5 22 minute games? For 5 days? Really now. They're also really spaced out and we can't leave in between, so I was stuck in my school's gym from 9 in the morning to 7 in the afternoon.

To make up for my complete lack of anything funny in the past few months, have a picture

Oh. Hey guys.

Hey

I remember you guys

Here's some stuff that happened after that last blog way back in ye olden times.

School ended. I somehow managed to bring up an 88 in honors English to finish with all A's. Woo?

Just Cause fail'd on my computer and ended up giving me another reason to hate Vista.

I got inFamous. It's probably my favorite game on the PS3 right now, even better than MGS4. In my opinion of course. The only real problems I had were the pop-in graphics, Cole sometimes falling through the floor, and how Cole's animations were amazing and everyone else looked like idiots running around. Also, the story was pretty good RIGHT UP UNTIL THE END.
I mean, TIME TRAVEL? Really? What were the developers thinking?
Anyways, the game's loads of fun, which kinda wears off after the game tells you to beat it again. I can't really bring myself to play as the Evil side. It just doesn't seem as good after I finished it.

In other news, I was going to go to the movies with a few of my friends, but they blew me off to eat Mexican.

The White Stripes are an awesome band.

Bah

~~$$--Sayanara--$$~~

Just Cause.

ONE MORE DAY LEFT OF SCHOOL.

Yeah.

I got Just Cause, haven't played it yet though. Looks freakin' amazing. Now, I was going to get Fallout 3. Instead, I was like NO. INFAMOUS LOOKS BETTER. I'M PREORDERING THAT. The preorder will come later, but inFamous looks awssim as well.

I also started reading a manga called Gimmick! It's about a pair of SFX people who do ridiculous stuff like saving a theme park from a bomber and helping a girl meet her old boyfriend and such. You wouldn't think it'd be very good but it's actually pretty decent.

Lawd, what happened to my sense of humor?

Jedi Academy and Audiosurf

First Star Wars game is GO.

So, I first played this game waaaaay back in like '02. One of my friends was like DUDE GET THIS GAME IT'S STILL AWESOME and I was like OKAY and there was a great shortage of punctuation marks and I ended up having it.

It's pretty fun. I am absolutely awful at force fighting though. ALSO, THE COW SUIT IS THE BEST SKIN EVER.

Bad blog is bad.

I'm planning on getting either Burnout Paradise or Fallout 3 soon, hopefully both, probably Fallout. Also, I got Audiosurf and played a few songs on it. It was a little buggy at first. So buggy, in fact, that I couldn't even finish the track before the song ended due to lag. But I used my amazing power of having no clue what I'm doing to make it run extremely smoothly. And it is WIN.

Shadow of the Colossus

Yeah, I got it. Your friendly neighborhood shadowsurvivor is out fighting giant beasts.

So I've wanted this game since I first heard about it, even more so after playing a demo. However, my lack of a ps2 made a huge dent in my plans. So after getting a ps3 I was like HELL YEAH MGS4 and completely ignored SotC.

Now, I bought a magazine during my little trip to California. This magazine listed the best DS, 360, Wii, etc. games of all time. SotC came up number 2 for ps2, right behind God of War 2. Seeing this, I realized: I WANT THIS GAME.

Upon returning home, I took a trip to my local Gamestop and bought it. The cashier gave me the news that PS3s weren't backwards compatible. I dd not know this. Apparently Sony held a meeting sometime in November to stop making them like that, because people were buying the cheaper PS2 games over PS3 stuff. I managed to procure one in October. Woo!

The game is awesome. The environment is MASSIVE, and the best part is, no load times! The controls are okay, don't really like the horse controls. I have run my BATTLE HORSE into a tree, a brick wall, and almost off a cliff. Aside from my iffy riding skills, I love it. I'm already done with the 4th colossus. My battle with the 3rd was rather interesting. I had climbed all the way up to the head and was busy poking holes in it with my needle of a sword, when I looked at my stamina. It was next to nothing. The tall fellow was busily having a seizure trying to get me off. I let go of him and fell ALLLL THE WAAAAAY TO THE GROUND. Amazingly, I survived and beat it, then passed out and awakened in the Shrine of Worship. Hurr.

But yeah, I love it.

That's about all.

My excuse for not being here.

I was in Lake Tahoe, Cally fornia snowboarding.
I ate at an awesome restaurant called Fire + Ice.
I fell. A lot.
I flew for 14 hours starting at 7 in the morning, so I'm not making a long blog.
