I have been on a huge RPG binge for the last few months and I am really wanting to try out some RPG's I haven't played yet. For one, I am looking for an RPG with really great character development. I finished up Lunar recently and really liked how the main character really grows to be an influential hero over the course of the game. I really love RPG's that take your insignificant village boy and turn him into a badass magical king. Also it can be on pretty much any system; I most likely have a means of playing the game given I look around hard enough. Of course, I don't want a super rare RPG that will break the bank trying to find. So thanks for suggestions and give me something to play!

"Soul Calibur II" is the best ground-floor game, I think. Easy to pick up and play, fun to master as you get deeper. The GameCube edition with Link as a playable is my favorite...

:D

It's a game that doesn't discourage people new to the genre, and yet can be a very deep, complex fighter as you get more into it. Perfect. Kiliak ROCKS!!!

Completely forgot to mention Soul Calibur 2! Played the CRAP out of that on release and still play it off and on in multiplayer to this day. Also I noticed a lot of mentions towards KOF and was wondering which one to start with. I started looking and there are a LOT of games in the series, so which has the best gameplay of them all?

I have always watched people play fighting games in sheer awe and have always wanted to get into them. The only real problem with this is the fact that most fighters have a steep learning curve and require extremely precise knowledge of its many systems and combos. I have dabbled in fighters in the past (Soul Calibur series, SFIV, and a bit of MvC2) but I have never actually gotten very good at any. So I would like to know of some good fighting games that serve as a jump off point into the whole world of fighters. Also any tips on playing said games would be extremely helpful as well.
