Yeah for some reason a lot of girls aren't interested in the PS3 anymore since they canceled the rumble feature, I wonder whether there is a link? :P
Now seriously, the PS3 does not yet have the same mainstream girl game catalog that the Wii and Gamecube consoles have. Let's face it, if the girl ain't a real gamer (meaning she plays more then just bejuweled and rub-a-dub like games) she won't find the PS3 accesible.
Sixaxis is not bad. But they should stop trying to use sixaxis for everything.
I have heard some good things about the use of sixaxis in for example Warhawk, but the developers don't try to shove it down your throat by allowing you the option of still using the analog sticks.
Take Folklore for example. A nice example of how to implement sixaxis.
What most people seem to forget that this is a new way of gaming and it will take a while to get used to it. I still remember when the analog sticks where first introduced and everyone said that it was not easy and should be left out. Now we can't live without them anymore.
If developers would take the time to see whether using sixaxis is better then analog sticks or leaving the option to use either open to the gamer, then things like the 'difficult' controls in Lair would not have happened.
I don't believe that sixaxis will have the impact analog sticks had when they where introduce, but they might see their use in some cases. I think that a nice use would be in for example a snowboarding game where you can move your board with the analog sticks (or the d-pad for the old schoolers) and use the sixaxis to control your body and lean to a side and make sharper turns this way or balance while grinding.
Just my 2 cents.
They are using the correct way = a weighted average.
Meaning that stuff like sound and graphics will count for less then actual gameplay. A correct weight (to me) is sound and graphics 20% each and gameplay 60%.
Like let's say a game get's:
9 / 10 for graphics -> at 20% => 18%
9 / 10 for sound -> at 20% => 18%
3 / 10 for gameplay -> at 60% => 18%
So it gives a 7/10 average, but the weighted average is only 54% or 5.4 / 10.
For Lair they probably used a similar system and I believe they should, 'cause a great looking and/or sounding game does not make a great overall game.
I hope this explanation is clear.
Guy hunter is right, everyone here is probably gonna say PS3.
But I won't. This is your decision and if you're gonna pay a lot of money for a next-gen console, it's best that you don't regret it later on.
Also mobius is right, you should look at what games you want to play and which console has them and decide from there.
The PS3 has games and will deliver games in near and far future for every genre. Like MGS4, GT5, GTA5, Killzone 2, FFXIII, RE5, ...
Some really great games like Resistance: Fall of Man, Motorstorm, GRAW2, Oblivion and RV6 are already out and you might be able to find them at a small price somewhere.
Playing online is free on PS3. (Might be useful to know if your an online fanatic)
The PS3 has a FREE online service where you can download demos, trailers and games (for PS3, PSP or PS1 remakes). (It's kinda slow, but gaining a little momentum). You can download Gran Turismo HD Concept for free.
Don't forget that the PS3 is also a fully capable DVD and Blu-ray player (a standalone Blu-ray player will set your back almost as much or more then a PS3), which I believe is still available with the 5 free blu-ray movies deal, till the end of September.
SoI hope this is enough info to help you make a decision.
Exactly, there is no special hit game. Sony has always used the every genre tactic and this will start to peak next year.
For every genre the PS3 has at least one game that is gonna kick ass and so even if your not into FPS or RPG, the PS3 still has a game in a different genre that will win you over.
A little preview (just a few games of the top of my mind):
FPS: Killzone 2, HAZE, ...
RPG: FFXIII, Folklore, White Knight, ...
Stealth Action: MGS4, ...
Online: Warhawk, UT3, ...
Survival Horror: Resident Evil 5, ...
Platformer: Ratchet and Clank, ...
Soccer: PES, FIFA
... and so on.
And then I don't even talk about:
Little Big Planet, Afrika, GT 5, GTA 5, Wipeout HD, Uncharted, GOW 3, ...
I know that these are not all exclusive games, but who cares.
Who said you shouldn't buy a PS3, because it won't get any support? :? :P
:lol:, the future is bright my friends. Very bright. * puts on sunglasses * 8)
Nope, they stop downloading if you play a game.
It is probably due to the fact that if you play a game it sometimes accesses the HDD and it might have difficulty to do so if your at the same time downloading. But this is speculation.
When I put the unlimited HP on it's not for completing missions, it's simply to create the biggest anarchy in the little GTA-world.
The moment you use any cheat during the actually progress of your game, it's called cheating and you won't go to heaven. :p
But cheating when your simply free-roaming or on a replay, is just fun.
Anyone remember the code where any damage to a vehicule made it explode, damn that was fun and difficult in a high speed chase. :p
