they should be skipped and forgotten about along with George Lucas' other failure...Howard the duck.

Good luck getting people to forget about Star Wars. There's a whole generation that likes the prequels, so get used to it.
never So you want others to forget about them, but refuse to forget them yourself. Curious.[QUOTE="Lethalhazard"]I like episodes 4-6, but I really don't see how the fandom has existed for four decades now. The original films are really good, but I think it's nuts people have been dwelling on the series for so damn long. I guess it's because of the lore or something....because there are plenty of great films out there that don't have any fandom past half a decade. Q_Q. gaming25But those films didnt have three straight classics. Star Wars is perhaps the greatest movie trilogy ever. Let's not forget LOTR. :P

LethalhazardWell, it may have to do with the fact that the prequels are only a few years old, and that renewed interest in the series? Also there was the original trilogy re-release in 97. But the most obvious answer is that Star Wars is not just any other series, they were the biggest series ever back in the 70s and 80s. Nothing rivaled it in popularity, and it was a worldwide phenomenon. Think Harry Potter of Lord of the Rings, but even more so. And back when there was little to no competition.
