I bought my PS3 a couple months ago when the announced they were getting rid of the EE chip, but haven't really played it as my 360 was keeping me busy. Of course 3 days ago my 360 broke for the second time. While its on its way for repairs I've been playing a couple PS3 demos and beating a few of my PS2 games (MGS 3: Subsistence, RE4, Shadow of the Colossus...these are still great games...but they kinda hurt my eyes after playing HD). Anyway, its a nice diversion while the 360 is gone but I don't really see myself playing the PS3 too religiously until Ratchet & Clank (rental) MGS4, Unreal Tournament 3, and Killzone 2 hit the market. Right now I only buy multiplats on the 360 becaue of the gamerpoints.....ingenius on MS's part.
So here is the deal. Even if you deleted everything on that harddrive and had it completely clean it still wouldn't register at 20 gb. This is the reason why. When manufacturers create hard drives they assume that 1000 kb makes 1 mb and 1000 mb makes 1 gb. If you know anything about computers you will know that all calculations are done by powers of 2. That means the closest to 1000 you can get would be 1024 (very common ram size). So in reality 1024 mb are in 1 GB instead of 1000. That means for every gb you are losing over 24 mb (and this goes all the way down to bytes....so its not exactly 24). On a "20 gb" model we are talking 20*24 = ~480 mb. You will never get a 20 gb on a 20 gb hard drive....even in computers.
Also, its formatted and Microsoft uses some for system files (everyone has already said that)
yeah i dont really like special addition games either, all that math makes my brain hurt. special editions of games are pretty cool tho.dgguidryjr
