Well it could have something to do with M$ having very deep pockets. You do remember how just about every page on this site was heavily advertised with Halo when Halo 3 was released don't you?

I see lots of advertisements all the time, and they are not always MS. How can you honeslty blame a video game website for hyping a game that set records for grossing some of the largest entertainment sales of all time? A game that received great reviews from pretty much every major review site? It would be stupid and entirely irresponsible for any video game website not to feature such a huge release. If millions of people anxiously await the release of a game, it is kind of in the best interest of a video game website to offer information and other resources to meet the demand. I also remember motorstorm advertisements and some for Uncharted as well...it's really not GS's fault that MS has the better game library. You can't expect inferior games to get the same amount of advertising as superior games...it doesn't work like that.

And you act like Sony is picking up pennies from the streets in order to make ends meat. Sony is also a huge company and very capable of creating a conspiracy theory of their own.

the thing is half of those games mainly sell well because of the game sites hyping it so much. If sites didnt do taht, noone might have even know about halo. Or if they just did it with a different game, it could be some other totally random game being huge and halo being nothing.

TC brings up a good point: In the US marketing is king. People listen to endless marketing, get brainwashed, and buy into what they've been told to believe.

LOL, nice attempt in twisting the story around. Too bad you failed. Marketing isn't what made Halo 3, Orange Box, Bioshock, & Gears AAA games. It might of helped them sell a gazillion copies, but if you honestly believe these games are crap and only sell due to marketing, then I have a nice tin foil hat I can sell you.

no hes right. Half of the games get high reviews nowadays and then everyone says its cool and everyone else gets it because other people say its cool. You gotta ask would halo even be big if gaming sites, magazines etc. didn't make such a big deal out of the first one when it came out. That seems to happen with a lot of games now.
