[QUOTE="sidler88"]actually we send ourselves to hell with our sinful nature,, it was not Gods original intent for there to be a hellxaosHow can plans change for an omnipotent, omniscient God? Would He not have known everything that was going to happen from the get-go? It's all kind of a variation on the problem of evil, the only response to which basically ends up being variations of "the Lord works in mysterious ways" or Graham Greene's "You can't conceive, nor can I, the appalling strangeness of the mercy of God". To me, this is not satisfactory, nor is the "might makes right" appeal you made previously.he is omnipotent and omniscient, but his whole purpose in creating mankind was to give us a FREE WILL, so although he could have set humans on the right path with an iron fist, He chose to let us make our own decisions

I decided at a very early age that if God forced belief or eternal damnation, that He was a thug and I could not in good conscience comply. well he created you and the entire universe, so the way i look at it is that its not really our place to be so high and mighty as yourself. So if I have a child, I am entitled to torture them if they fail to honor me? Actually, this is sanctioned in the Old Testament, but that's another matter altogether, since I'm not really dealing with the specifics of scripture. no you are not that child's divine creator, God is..

But maybe all of us can't see it now, but someday we might know why those people deserve entrernal damnation. I phrased that in a more provocative way than I intended, and I apologize for that. I'm not trying to tell anyone else what is or isn't right and am not trying to challenge anyone else's belief. It's just that for me personally, I could not reconcile the notion of a loving God with one who sends people to Hell for not devoting themselves to Him. actually we send ourselves to hell with our sinful nature,, it was not Gods original intent for there to be a hell

Well, I'll try CPR on it. When you have judges in Vermont giving 4 year old rapists probation you get what you deserve. But speak a racial slur to a muslim? Oh, that's 10 years buddy. Now I don't condone hate speech, but what is wrong with that picture? maheo30you are an insightful man.,. i just wish more politicians thought this logically

"bad" is a hard thing to define
its all NON-CHRISTIANS that are thrown into the lake of fire according to the Bible
