The Sims 2 is a very good game. If you never played The Sims (you freak of nature) it is a game that you create your own person and control there lives. (such as controlling what jobs they take, who they are friends, ect.)
The Sims 2 made BIG improvements from the first game. The graphics are clear and is quite nice. It runs smoothly but has its rough spots. The loading screens are long but it isn't super long.
The Sims 2 is very centered on its new aspiration meter and fears and wants. The aspiration meter is cool new add on to the game. Every want or fear you fufill the aspiration meter changes. Basically when you create a sim you get to pick its life aspiration. There are five different aspirations. (romance, family, money, popularity, and knowledge) Each have there own fears and wants.
Most wants are basic like they want to eat a sandwhich that will barly affect the aspiration meter. Than there's the big ones like they want to kiss another sim those affect the aspiration meter a lot. If you fill the aspiration meter to the top you get platinum mode. Basically your very happy.
Every want that you fufill you get aspeation points. When you build up enough points you can buy some cool goodies such as a love tub or a money tree. The aspiration meter makes the game less repetitive and makes it more fun to play.
There are other new features such as a you can go through generations of your sims family and the new stuff in the buy menu.
OVERALL-- This game is a must-have for any gamer. You can pick it up at any best buy or gamestop for $50.
