There are more stars in the universe then there are grains of sand on all the beaches of the planet earth. With that many stars, there are plenty of planets. And some of them are warm enough to sustain life, and some of them are bound to have a magnetic field and strong enough gravity to support a moon, and some of them must have been bombarded with UV rays and heat in a way that is condusive to forming life out of non living matter.
