theres a good chance that they do but more than likely it will be for their own benefit not Sony's. basically they need to determine supply and demand.. sony on the other hand is already doing this when they sell to retailers.. plus there are millions of stores around the world...no one has time to check in to each store and ask "hey how many ps3/xbox etc. did you sell so we can get an accurate count for the fanboys:lol:Doesn't each store scan products sold and it goes to a database. Each store can tell how much is sold and what is sold just by going to computers.

"covers ears" blah, blah, blah!!! sony move didnt sell millions, sony is teh liar, move is a failure, blah, blah blah!!! lol --- - these pretty much sums up what most posters are gonna sayjohnlennon28probably./... ill find out tomorrow..im sleepy
[QUOTE="sireclaborn"] ill start slow.....if you sell a million products for a dollar...you made a million dollars...easy right...

Read that word for word. No. You didn't make a million $. Each product sold for $0.000001. I know what you're trying to imply. But in my line of work, getting it exactly right the first time in the delivery matters a lot.
If you said a million products for a dollar apiece. Then yes, you made a million products.
Sorry. I just woke up and I'm quite fresh. :lol:
Edit: As for how much a product has sold, I guess that would be the only way to track sales directly fom the manufacturer. But, it may not give an accurate picture of the real installed base of users who actually bought the product.
I've seen a lot of these talk in Mac vs PC threads at different web sites. Mac users did bring up a point that the installed base may be higher than what traditional marketshare figures indicate. But, there's no foolproof reliable way to track the installed base except maybe track web usage via browser type.
what are you an accountant??..lol.. people on here cant understand the basics so there's no reason to get technical[QUOTE="waltefmoney"]Damage control thread:P. i wouldnt call this dc...there nothing dc about this thread..sony made money how am i dcing ?A better question - why are you getting so worked up over something like this?:|

seriously what is wrong with everyone...sony does something good and everyone has to analyze it and call ripley...because they cant believe it.
some of you really need to start thinking.. ill start slow.....if you sell a million products for a dollar...you made a million dollars...easy right...ok if i sell a million moves to retailers i sold a million moves from my company...if one of my retailers cant sell my product they'll send it back to me because its not selling or discount my product and wont but my product...also retailers are businesses with smart people running them.....they tend not to overstock with products that they know wont sell...well we have no reports from best buy walmart target etc saying that move is a flop and is not selling...
so whats the problem with everyone on the shipped sold crap....really do you think companies track how many people have there product..do you know how much resources companies have to spend in order to do this??? do you people really think sony ships a million moves without getting paid first
why waste my hard earned profit on something completely useless when i could easily go through the retailer who is saying hey we need to some shipments...send us some....i havent been on here in a long as time and i know why i stopped coming here..some of you argue over some of the dumbest crap...i mean an ounce of common sense would help but some of you want to be fanboys about everything
[QUOTE="winterMarine"][QUOTE="hakanakumono"]But they have claimed they have sold 1,000,000 units. They probably produced that many units. but they havent sold 1,000,000 units to the distributers. If they claim they have sold 1 million, then retailers have bought 1 million from Sony. Sony has produced and stored more than 1 mil units. (Just WTF is going on in this thread, it's like people leave their brain outside before coming in) exactlyWhen items are shipped, it means they are sold. When you buy a game, it has already been sold to the distributor. When you buy that game from the distributor, you are paying the distributor. If a game sells out, the distributor may order more move units from Sony, and that's when Sony makes another sale. That's also why it's important for people to buy games in order for them to make money; so that they can resell the game to distributors.
So no, they weren't really lying. The 1 million reflects how much demand there is from stores.
