the Jasper should i have shipped by now...they came out in august...its really impossible to tell b/c of the falcon chips...but if you read anything on the box or the console that has any power consumption lower than 175watt than you can count on it being Jasper...i personally want the Valhalla chipset, the most powerful of the three or four: Xenon, Falcon, Ophus (in refurbished consoles only), and Jasper. Valhalla is a super chipset that combines the cpu and the GPU. anyway hope that helpsMister_korea

The Valhalla wont be any more powerful than even the xenon,it's just gonna run cooler and be cheaper to manufacture. You wont find any visual or audio difference between a Xenon,Falcon,Jasper,Valhalla or Opus.So if you're gonna wait and wait for one of these newer versions then you're just wasting good gaming time, when you could have a Good 360 now and be joining in on XBox Live.

I downloaded the demo and felt good to play it again after all those hours at the arcade in the 90's...

What do you guys think about it?

How many games do you buy a year? I think i've bought like 6 or so this year.

jrabbit99

Roughly 10-12 per year-usually once they've been out a while so they're £/$ s cheeper.-Unless it's a really must have game!

how bad was the vibration? like i felt mine vibrate by putting my hand on the top (lying down)ihaveabu
I'd only maybe use one of these coolers if i bought an old launch 360 and the cooler came with it.The newer HDMI versions really dont need a cooler and will void any remaining warranty you may hope to have with M.S.

As for the vibrations, well that's very bad-it's not gonna do your console any favours and certianly might well end up with a scratched disc or two.Take the cooler back and ask for a full refund and then do yourself a Big favour and spend the money on something worth buying.

well, compared to the dvd drive, it should take a lot longer for the hdd to fail than the dvd drive. with that said, i am a little bit worried too. most of my games are copied to my hdd. the main problem for me is if my hdd dies, i loose all my savesihaveabu
Buy a memory card and start backing up your game saves on it-that's what i've done for the very same reason.

i heard some people say that the elite doesnt get rrod, that true?

name294

It's exactly the same. The only differences is in 360 versions-Xenon chip,Falcon chip, and now the Jasper chipset.

And so the Arcade,Pro. and Elite versions may still die on you with rrod. The only thing being that if your 360 has Falcon or jasper chipset then it's less likely to develope rrod.

I've been hearing people say that these things do more harm than good? I have a Pro 360 and I got it last August and it's a 2008 model Jasper with HDMI and it gets pretty hot so it worried me, so I got the EX and it really does keep my system cooler...much cooler in fact. exactly what harm could this do? cept maybe suck in dust which is unavoidable no matter what you do....so really I've had this thing for a while now and it hasn't given me any fuss. If anything it's doing it's job...better than micro**** slackjob of a cooling system...anyway I'd like to know exactly why I get people on these bored telling others not to get it...I under stand internal cooling hazards *water cooling esp* sure the thing sounds a bit like a vaccum cleaner but i've grown used to it.

If you're using an extra add on cooler then you've voided your warranty, they tend to cause problems to 360s cos they share the same power source intended to run your console.

I've had two Falcon chip 360s now and both run only luke warm at most. The jasper is meant to be almost zero chance of overheating and suffering rrod,so i think you should take off any add on fan straight away!

Because most of the reviews about the Nyko Intercooler have been less than positive at best, I was wondering if there are other options to helpthe 360 to run cooler? I thought about putting an air fan behind it but I've been told that would just blow all the hot air back into the console. Would a window air conditioner help at all? I've also heard something about putting a frozen water bottle behind it might help. Any suggestions?

Also I know it's best to keep your 360 in a well ventilated area, mine is seated on a small table between my dresser and the wall and there's about 30" of space between them (wall to dresser), is that enough or should I move my 360to an even more open area?

Krypt_Kreeper

Dont buy an add on fan for sure-They can actually cause your 360 to overheat cos they draw power intended for the console cos of shared power intake.Plus they void any warranty you may have.

I've had Three 360s so far-My launch one used to run hot enough to fry an egg on its casing and got rrod after only 10 months, but my last model-Pro with Falcon chip ran flawlessly and only ever ran luke warm(casing)whether i stood it vertically or horizontally.I then traded it up for my new Elite-also Falcon chip-which i have horizontal and only ever gets luke warm at the most. But i dont tend to worry about the rrod problem anymore cos with 3 years cover by MS,well i know i'll buy another console before that time is up anyway.
