Just wondering if anyone has heard any more news on a possible price drop (maybe by spring) ?
I'm curious as to what video games got everyone hooked back in the day. I'm not talking just simply playing games but got you thinking about stories and outcomes. The one you first went to bed thinking about and would wake up still thinking about.
For me it was the PC RPG Wizardry: Crusaders of the Dark Savant. Great first person RPG. Turn based battle systems, great story line (although at times wordy), tough puzzles and of course graduating character classes. I can still vividly remeber how excited I was when my monk graduated into a samurai and my thief graduated into a ninja. GOOD TIMES!!! I had already been playing video games for quite a while before Wizardry (arcades, nintendo, etc.) but this game took it to another level for me.
I've been hooked on gaming ever since.
How about the rest of you?
Recently I have a noticed a growing trend in game reviews. Scores are being given based on too many factors which may or may not clearly represent how good a game might be. I'll explain.
I am not an avid online player. I have played a select few games online with people I know but my experience is very limited (yes that's right, I am a noob). Therefore the quality of online play is very often irrelevant to me. I am more interested in solo play. This doesn't mean that I think online play is a bad thing, I just haven't really gotten into it yet.
Many times, I have noticed that some games that may not have any online play at all or very limited online play, get very low scores. This can be misleading because it may be a great solo game and we might miss out because we initially see a low score. This is not a knock on gamespot but on all rating systems in various sites, mags, etc.
I would like to see a 2 score system. One for online play and one for solo play. This might be more difficult to pull off than I think but it is just a suggestion.
What does everyone else think?
I completely disagree!!
The gaming companies are NOT LOSING anything!!!!
When a game is made, an estimated profit is assumed by the game developers. If the game does not make that estimated amount, they call it a loss, which is total garbage, to make consumers feel like they are responsible. If I believe I am going to make $500 selling my PC and then only sell it for $300, IT IS NOT A LOSS OF $200!!!. You can not lose something you never had. The game developers make plenty of money even with piracy, renting, used games, etc. If they didn't, they couldn't afford to make sequels that are bigger, better, faster, etc.
Facts are that there are still a huge amount of new game sales occurring. They just want to make every red cent they can. Sure I don't blame them for that but people can't alsways afford a $60 game nor justify it (especially today). If I pay $60 for a game ad it totally sucks (in my opinion) I can not get full value for it in return EVER!! That is equally as unfair.
