World of Warcraft is nothing compared to crysis. you can run wow on pentium 4 or a athlon xp gamming rig from 2003, wow is directx 8 if I am not mistaken. either way, two totally different games, I got a small giggle out of your "its runs wow so why isn't it running crysis" comment, sorry that was just funny.

ok I just read your last post wolf, if the cost is cheap, get the 295's heck ya, don't pass that up. I only recommend keeping your 260's if your going to get hit in the pocketbook upgrading right now.

I am running one gtx 280 at the moment, no windows safe mode message at post.

when I had both gtx 280's in sometimes windows would ask to run in safe mode, its buggy in vista home basic 32.

in my case one card is better.

for you, just get the one gtx 295 card, if you really like it and can do quad-sli get a 2nd one later.

gtx 295 is basically 2 gtx 260's 55 nm process, 896mb x2 (GDDR3 memory I think) 1792 total memory per card, nvidia is saying that games like crysis is using 896mb ram not a full GiG, for now. and all the physix jazz they put into it which few games if any are using right now. More efficient and uses less power than the 280 and 260, not much less, your talking 65nm to 55nm folks, maybe 8 percent less power.

there is just no way I am gettin the 295, I just bought the 280's and I'm going to use those for the next 2 years if they behave right this time.

In my humble opinion, keep your 260's and wait for a much better card in 2 years and do a bigger leap frog. otherwise sell your 260 at a fraction of orginal cost, buy a 295 at full price to have it right away and replace it in 4 months when the next card comes out, rinse and re-use :)

Don't install 3 video cards for tri-sli. the configuration has all 3 cards to close to each other and they "will" over heat. thats all the configurations to guys. Especiallt gtx 260's, those suckers will get hot. If you did 3 260 cards, that would be 6 video cards not 3, I have no idea what kind of water cooling system would work or fit on that configuration to cool it properly (if it can with them so close to each other)

Only that if you insist on tri-sli you will "Have" to install liguid cooling, cause your air cooling, is not going to happen.

On my xfx 780i board (which has 3 x16 pci-e slots for tri-sli) I did not get 3 cards, I got 2x xfx GTX 280's and put one in the upper bank, and the second in the bottom most bank.

it is a Quad sli solution, and properly air cooled with the stock cooling from xfx. Vista is still buggy and sometimes I get load errors on boot, and after launching CoD modern warfare for the first time, the bottom card fried near the 8 and 6 pin power adapters. yaaaaaaaaaaaa. new egg is sending me a replacement.

So if you want to avoid the over heating problem of 3 cards crammed together and just go with quad-sli and hope your pc runs stable at least its one problem you can avoid.

make sure your power supply is up to it either way. ABS 1300 watt is a good solution, I am ordering one soon.

google tri-sli water cooling if your mind is made up.

Since I played World of Warcraft the most over the past 3 years, the only real gripe I have is all the elitest dorks and **** kids who play that game, who act humble yet know every statistic memorized and know everything there is to know according to them, and don't realize they indeed are the elistest pricks in a party.

these types of players expect you to rise to theyre level of understanding and if you do not, you are kicked out of the group, its that simple. And there are alot of players just like this, in fact some of you reading this, this applies to you, not everyone but quite a few.

So if you happen to have a level 80 toon on wow, an epic flyer, all the end game raiding gear, and you did all this a week after wotlk released, your an elitest dork and you need to lighten up, because not every single player is as elitest as you are!

and if your still playing you haven't realized how much the game sucks since bc released, and cannot move to other games :)

So, all that said, I hate wow elitests, oh and they sound like complete dorks on vent too.

well I have a good variety of consoles over the past 20 years, not any 1 brand specifically. But! for video cards I have always rolled with nvidia, even now they are arguably the under dog to ati's power ful 4870 x2's with the 600 streamed proccessors or something like that. nvidia is a wawa 240 streamed processors GPU is still cool cause I always use em anyway.

ok so I did buy a used 9800xt ati card back in 2005 so I could play half life 2 on a old athlon xp gamming pc I was using then. it worked great for what it was suppose to do and I don't think nvidia found out about it (peeks around the corner....shhhhh)

when I got tired of the fps single player walk through style of play in early 2006, I loaded in world of warcraft and since they use nvidia cards primarily, I snaggled a pny 6800gt and took out the 9800xt, there was a noticable difference between the two cards, not blow your skirt up to the ceiling or anything and get your coffee in your lap, but good enough.

anyways, you do what you want, you game how you want, if you want to sneak off and get that xbox MAKE SURE IT DOESN'T HAVE THAT STUPID CRAPPY PIECE OF JUNK NO GOOD ANNOYING AND RELENTLESS DISC READ ERROR (((((((((((((((((((((((((((((STOCK THOMPSON DRIVE))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

make sure the xbox has the cool samsung drive in it, with the 80-pin ribbon cable, not the 40 pin cable 2!!!!!!

yeah folks I just built this system on December 23rd, on the 30th I installed CoD4 Modern Warfare and after the CGI Intro POOF, system shut down.

I restart and get a plum of smoke from the Bottom XFX GTX 280 card and a ZZZZt. Something popped near the PCIE Rails. its stinks of plastic burn too.

maybe its a bad apple, it happens.
