Microsoft is going to go all out with the 720.

And thats not a good thing

They're going to throw all the garbage they can at it,  crap like no used games,  online connection required,  required install,  no bluray movie playback despite having a bluray drive,  etc etc.  They know many gamers will reject that but they dont care.  If the system flops and millions are left with a big paper weight they wont care,  they'll be out of the business.

Now in the small chance such a grotesque console actually catches on they'll stay around.

Microsoft is basically saying screw it they're tired of trying to slowly push consoles to what they want them to be,  which is highly restricted machines that nickel and dime you to death.  They almost succeeded in making garbage HDDVD win.  IF hd-dvd won MS would have dropped support for it killing the high def disc market. 

That means the gen 7 consoles WOULD NOT have a bluray OR HDDVD drive.  They would be download only.

MS is tired of slowly poisoning gaming.  They're going to dump a truckload of acid on the gaming industry with the 720.  Whether or not the console industry survives is up tot he gamer.
